LDN Blue 7,903
I feel sorry for Lukaku, his career seems to have completely gone stagnant in the last few months. He desperately needs a loan move.Yeah but at least he remains upbeat and positive, unlike some other squad members who cry to the media. Nic! 301
I know he's got much less quality than Torres. But I'm pretty confident that if Lukaku got the minutes Torres got, he'd scored more.I know, that's easy talk afterwards. Doesn't make it anymore untrue though. Atholy 1,293
Yeah but at least he remains upbeat and positive, unlike some other squad members who cry to the media. He has a chelsea heart my friend! The only difference between him and the 42.000 in the stand is that Romelu has privileged seating .I predict a break through in 2012. Starting with some subs in the next weeks... then a goal(or two, three... ) => Lukaku is launched! francozola

Rubber bullets 1,183
Yes, but loyalty does nott mean quality. I still take my stand that we have payed £18 million ppounds for a reserve player and someone who may be as only good as Carlton Cole. dwonder 11
Lukaku will come good. I expect him to get more gametime in January especially when we come against teams that seat deep and we want a big man upfront to hold up play. but what i love most his is enthusiasm and love for the club. few players would have been contented to play in chelsea reserves after representing his country. the way he celebrated his goals and other players in the reserve game against arsenal shows someone who is happy to represent the club he loves in whatever capacity. That is something that cannot be bought. Atholy and daBlackMamba7
Rubber bullets 1,183
Well I hope I'm bloody wrong. But there is a lot of similaritties with Carlton Cole. Was incredible strong and powerful at 18. Was doing well in the reserves and getting great hype in the media. But when it came to actual first team football he only had strength and now plays in the Championship. So I worry we are doing the smae with Lukaku. Popular Post! magic weeds 446 Posted December 30, 2011 Popular Post! Share Posted December 30, 2011 Lukaku is Lukaku and not any Carlton Cole or Jones or whoever. its unfair to compare him to anyone, when actually we havent seen him play for the first team. He is good with the reserves, and thats why he needs to be given some minutes in the first team. I just wonder why people are so negative.Trust your young players and hope they get time to proove themselves. he's 18 FFS. zolayes, lecter, eldo and 2 others
Rubber bullets 1,183
You don't pay £18 million pound for just potential, then to have him rot in the reserves. Simple as that.
True_Blue 469
Benching him and starting Torres is utter shit.Torres was payed 50 mill so he has to play,Lukaku needs more chances,he deserves to get at least 15 minutes when Drogba or that tit Torres come's off.I hope Villas Boas has a plan for him,i am still certain a young player will never be given a chance in our club (at least our home grown) Swedish House Mafia, Bosnian Blue and LDN Blue
Nic! 301
I hope AVB has a spot on the bench for Lukaku tomorrow. And get some minutes then also. But I guess that's just wishfull thinking.
Manuf 1,448
What I find the most annoying is that AVB was meant to bring changes. He was supposed to bring youngsters in and change our football philosophy. I don't blame him for the results as he can't change players attitude but he made fuck of promises about youngsters. We don't have creativity in the midfield, let's throw out of form Lampard or hope for Ramires' pace when this little Joshy, who is capable of staying on his feet versus opponents much stronger than him and also of passing that magic balls up front, is rotting on the bench. When Ashley Cole seems not to have strength to even run after slow balls which are going out, Andre plays him week in week out when we have one of the most promising left backs in England or dare I say in the world. And the last one, when out strikers are dire shit and we depend only on trickery and magic of Daniel & Mata, he plays Drogba who seems to care only in 1 out of 10 matches or Torres who doesn't even require any comment. They're good but how fucking annoying is when we need a POACHER in the box who can finish all these balls from Bosingwa or Cole and all we have is late Lampard or Mata while Lukaku who is mainly known for his finishing and brute strength scores in reserves the way our attackers should in premiership matches. lecter and Swedish House Mafia

Badboy 1,526
Sam there are big differences between Lukaku and Carlton Cole. Lukaku has scored goals in Europe against sides like Benfica and a double against Ajax. He has also scored against Russia's first team in international competition, he arrived at this club with plenty of first team games already under his belt. Carlton Cole was unlucky that he had one of the best finishers in Europe ahead of him in Jimmy ad he had Guddy who worked so well with Jimmy upfront and of course Zola off the bench. Rubber bullets 1,183
Well if your so optimistic about him, saying he has scored against top opposition, then why does he keep playing in the reserves? If the club were so willing to pay a lot of money for him then why is he not getting more first team action? At the moment I'm confused at the board for buying him for that amount of money then deciding he is not ready for the first team. We buy Romeu, unkown at the time for £4,35 million at 19 years of age and now he is playing for the first team. While Lukaku, costing a lot of money and hyped as the new Drogba (somthing I cringe at) and he is just rotting at the bench. So I'm not convinced by his abilities until the club plays him more and he justifies why we paid that amount of money. We rightly criticize Torres for his form due to the amount of money we paid for him, so the same should apply for Lukaku, who frankly has the first touch of a donkey and poor agiility. Nic! 301
The thing is (which I find normal, that aside): Torres has got plenty of chances. Until now, he blew them. And yes, Lukaku's first touch is weak, bad actually. But that didn't prevent him from scoring goals at Anderlecht. Torres' first touch is rather good, but that didn't guarantee him any goals.I'm just saying; you can moan about Lukaku being a expensive transfer and just playing for the reserves. But he didn't get the chance to prove us, the fans, AVB and the rest of the squad, wrong.Oh, and it's not 18 million yet. It's 13 that can go up to 18 if he performs well. 13 million is still ridiculous for a reserves player, so I'd say: start Lukaku against Villa! I'm pretty confident he won't do any worse than Torres. PS: I love Torres, have nothing against the guy. Still think he's very talented. But at the current Chelsea, he seems pretty much worthless.
