HD3D 1,038
Mourinho explains the reason for selling LukakuβThe thinking behind the move was the fact that Romelu was always very clear with us, in his mentality, in his approach, he was not highly motivated to come to a competitive situation at Chelsea,β said Mourinho.βHe wanted to play for Chelsea but he wanted to be clearly the first choice striker, which in a club of our dimension, it is very difficult to promise to a player. That reduced immediately his desire to come to us.β Myself and The Skipper
Popular Post! Barbara 15,149 Posted July 30, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted July 30, 2014 sorry - haven't seen the vid posted in the previous page.Ignore my previous post here. But as I said yesterday in my huge post, Costa - when the interviewer assumed he had a captive nailed starting position for us - didn't accept that assumption and corrected the guy saying he had to fight for his place. that comes from a player that scored 34 goals in a top club only in the league. Now a 'nobody' who's scored half of that, in mid-table teams, come here and thinks he should be granted the #1 position? He isn't willing to fight, he thinks he's already proved his value when he hasn't.Good think Mourinho clarified it off hand. He probably learned from last year when he didn't promptly say Lukaku asked to leave and had to endure months of Lukaku's half truths leading everyone to believe it was Mourinho's choice. Now there's nothing Lukaku can say.God, I can't say how happy I'm for him being out of here. He could be a great striker someday and score many, many goals. I don't want someone like him representing my club... sorry I just don't like his persona. I can't overlook the attitude and only keep the stats. The Mak, Viper22, HD3D and 2 others

Blue Armour 4,442
Just seen this point on from @sidcelery We got Costa and Drogba for Lukaku and Ba. Two players who'll knock walls down for us.Honestly that is such a good point. Mourinho wants players who will do everything for the team and he's got that in Costa and Drogba. That's not really an apt compasion...we got Costa and Drogba for Eto'o and Ba would be more like it.Better off yes, but that you can't make comparisons to how it would have been with Lukaku...I think this sale was more of a case of Chelsea trying to balance its books burrogol

He wanted to play for #CFC, but only as 1st choice striker." Lukaku the so called 'complete striker' scared to fight for his place... gutless. Popular Post! Greyco 143 Posted July 30, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted July 30, 2014 Frustrated that he gets so much flack on this forum. He made some comments in the press during his loans that weren't smart. But like so many young talents at Chelsea, he soon became disillusioned with the chances and career path the club has for young players.Lukaku isn't my type of player. I don't rate him as a footballer and I loathe his style of play. But he is a terrific goalscorer who will be guaranteed to run 1 in 2 during the season, which gets you 20 goals a season if he stays fit. And it is scoring that matters in the end. His record for a 21-year old is remarkable.I think Lukaku is far more realistic than the brigade that has been stating that he should stay and fight for his place. He had a first row ticket to see Sturridge blossom after he was a fringe player at Chelsea for years. The first year at Chelsea was his most miserable in his career. And he saw KdB being promised guaranteed minutes by Mourinho for the busy month of december in november last season which turned out to be a hoax. In the end, it's a good deal for both Chelsea and Lukaku. At least if Costa comes out guns blazing because the press will turn on him, Mourinho and Chelsea if Lukaku outscores him next season.A lot of people have said in this thread during the years they'd lose all hope of ever seeing a homegrown youngster break through to the top at Chelsea if Lukaku didn't succeed. There's genuinly a case to demand Chelsea re-evaluate their policy regarding youngsters. Yet the current policy has made the club a ton of profit. Funny thing is the wheel turns and now those people turn to Bamford to be disillusioned in 3 years and turning to another youngster. petre.ispirescu 4,928
Chelsea is like a shark on the market. Killing it. My girl Marina is on fire. Fucking love her.And I guess these interviews from him and Jose after the move sums it up - wanted to lead the line w/o putting up a fight. Funny and ridiculous at the same time. Good riddance. Blue Traveler 256
Good sale!28m is about the right price for him and Everton is the right place for him. the dude was a lil bit deluded! and arrogant and had a big mouth! the talk of being A DROGBA obviously made him delusional! he was not the next Drogba not in a million years. talking about in an interview he is experienced enough to play the 1st striker in big club really says the dimension of the delusion!!! And with this sale i expect another striker.
Vybz Kartel 1,613
Drogba will get the Ba-role of last year at games like PSG, he's perfect for that role with his attributes, age (won't complain) and experience. The real problem is our 2nd striker: Torres. We must get rid of him and get a great 2nd striker who wants to be a back-up, Bony/Remy would be perfect.Costa, Bony/Remy, Drogba sounds good imo.Remy just failed a medical at Liverpool why would we sign him?? Besides why sell Ba if we are going to buy Remy or Bony. Both not an upgrade on Ba

gr123 167
Shame, wanted to see him return for this season. He's never going to be referred to as 'world class' but he will score goals. His comments have left a bit of a bitter taste though, and Jose's quotes on the situation makes me realise that we are probably better off without him. Ambitious yes, but has shown nothing in a Chelsea shirt to expect to be undisputed no.1. Good luck Romelu.
