Oriol Romeu

Mikel should have gone out for Rami, I thought Oriol was better today. Considering the amount of playing time he's had lately (including the second part of last season) no wonder he needs some time to catch up. But it's not like he has lost it like the other Spaniard.. <_<

He'll come good, he just needs more playing time, I thought he did quite well against Swansea. Romeu'll be more than adequate replacement for Mikel when he's out on International duty. The first choice central midfield partnership though is likely to be Lamps and Ramires. Chalobah would have returned from his loan deal with Watford and the two would be back-up for the first choice central midfield pairing.

Forgotten Chelsea star Oriol Romeu could be close to a Stamford Bridge exit, after a Valencian paper published details of a meeting between his agent and the Spanish club at their headquarters over the weekend.

The Chelsea midfielder's advisor, Magico Diaz, was pictured entering the Los Che office by Superdeporte, and the paper revealed he spent more than an hour in the offices speaking with Valencia sporting director Braulio Vazquez.

It is believed Valencia are looking to arrange a loan deal for the 21-year-old with the option to buy, and it is expected that any potential move would be completed in January.

Romeu is thought to be unhappy with his lack of appearances under Roberto Di Matteo, playing only four times in all competitions this season.

Valencia's interest in the youngster is nothing new, as it's thought the La Liga side attempted to sign him prior to his switch to Chelsea in 2011. Reports of a renewed interest in the midfielder emerged last summer.

So Valencia are going to look to try loan him with an option to buy... again...

Just can't see the logic in letting him go in January. He is our only DM apart from Mikel and we need him in January. Why try to create another problem for ourselves by having to purchase another DM(a potentially expensive one!) in the winter transfer window when we should be focusing on getting a striker first and foremost?!

His progress in our club got hindered by us changing from 4-3-3 to 4-2-3-, IMO. RDM just couldn't risk him in a two man midfield, since I don't know what he offers (haven't seen him play) maybe his overall attributes aren't that good/developed over our other midfielders.

Besides keeping him as a safety net, I think its better if he goes to another club (if he gets playing time and if we sign de rossi/vidal/any other dmf i.e.) and if the article I read was correct, we have a buy-back clause so it would work out for both parties. Only problem I see here is what if we don't sign a DMF or since Barcelona also has a buy-back clause already in place, why would he choose us over barca? He will obviously choose barca, but he may not if there's no position available he desires with them!!

I'm not surprised his not happy. He needs to get matches under his belt.

He is fantastic player, but even if he plays well, Mikel and Rambo will always be the starters

ahead of Romeu. Shame realy, as Romeu could be already one of top DM/CMs in league with regular playtime. If Valencia wants him on loan, I would be very happy if he goes, as long we get him back. Because he wont play here much, except from that month when Mikel will

go to Afcon.

Valencia is great club for players like Romeu, they play CL regulary and have similar passing style football. Im sure he will play lot and once he would return, we would have fantastic DM.

Im really glad he's staying for the time being anyway, i think he's a quality talent, and his type of football along with being quite physical but at the same time stable will suit the PL perfectly, his fast passing and makelele style "annoyance" defending is great.

He seems to a very intelligent person to in the ways he's picked up english so quickly and although hes had a few bad games he was a revelation in some games last year like the city one,

Would be stupid to let him go yet! AVB can spot talent even if thats all he was good for.

He was played near enough non stop for the middle third of last season, he got dropped when his performances dipped, i wish that would get done to his fellow blonde countryman.

Romeu is a decent midfielder, however he is by far our worst. Of course he is still very young (esp as DMs use to come class much later than most players, same way as CBs and many Goalies) but as said he has all the attributes, right size, still mobile, quick minded, good technique, nice passing but I think he is not so much more than Mikel. Look, any player can become-given he is coached the right way- sharp, pressing and decisive. But attributes that enable you to star in match-deciding moments are much harder to develop. Ask Mikel, does never score goals, seldom gives the decisive pass or assist and is never seen making crucial tackles on the other side of the pitch. Great midfielders that are not only a complementary part but a major part of the squad can do that. We have seen Lamps doing all this at any time, regardless of his age. Remember him robbing Messi and incenting the counter? Remember him working himself past three defenders and setting up Anelka against villa in 2009, rmember him incenting a counter himself, sprinting forward to collect the ball, dribbling past to defenders and hitting one with his left foot from 18 yards into the far bottom corner (vs mancity in 2008? Remember all these stunning goals that proved to be crucial, testament of his technical brilliance, vision, determination and power? These are the moments that stay in the people's memories, that make a worldclass midfielder. Mikel, Busquets and all these average guys every club has to make sth. of the hard work. If they do nothing more than that, no-no one will remember. Even guys like Schweinsteiger or Ramires have those moments. Makelele could as Xabi Alonso does now pass like a god and forsee how the play goes. U simply have to offer sth more than only being the player Romeu is, if not your only a less experienced Mikel.
