Thibaut Courtois

Had another good game against Liverpool and he deserves all the praise. His save on Lallana is the best one over the two legs.

On the other hand, in typical TalkChelsea fashion, this thread has been fairly quiet. When Cech was playing recently, people were clamouring all over him to start ahead of Courtois because of the clean sheets and saves he made against Newcastle (one could easily argue Courtois can save those too). Now, there's hardly been a word from those fellas.

He looks soooo young here! Amazing to think that he really is young. We have been incredibly lucky with our goalkeepers, we have been in safe hands for so many years and we will be for many years to come. The games against Liverpool are a very good base for the legend path.

He's proving to everyone just how good he is mentally. Coming into the team at Chelsea, knowing that a player like Cech well be on the bench, people shouldn't underestimate just how difficult that is for a young player. He knows that no-one would complain if Mourinho decides to keep Cech in goal after Cechs recent displays. That's a lot of pressure for a player in his first season in the Premier League. Courtois just comes back into the team and puts in a few wonderfull performances. Courtois either doesn't feel pressure or he thrives under pressure.

Courtois will turn out to be a bargain. Without Chelsea selling, there will be a world class goalkeeper at Chelsea for the next 10-13 years.

The Cech/Courtois battle to start the season, was topic number one in the world wide football media. And everybody expected a lot, he had to prove why it was the right choice to put Cech on the bench. And he had no time to adapt to the country, city, team or the EPL. If DDG had to do this, he would have let in 5 goals every game for 5 games straight. But Courtois has that much class that he didn't need a second to adapt and mentally he also stands a 100 times stronger than DDG. And when you know that DDG is a shotstopper and Courtois is a complete goalkeeper, and when you see that he is at least at the same level in shotstopping as DDG. I wonder why there exist non Man Utd fans who say that DDG is better than Courtois...

He had absolutely no right to save the one from Coutinho.

That one was actually very much down the middle and I would have expected him to save it. The Moreno one on the other hand took brilliant positioning and body shape.

Eh I don't know, he's actually anticipating the shot to be on his right and is going down that way before readjusting himself brilliantly and flinging the boot out. Besides, it's not as central as you think although the height is simpler to deal with.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIBAUT COURTOIS ADD HIS NAME TO THE LIST OF PREMIER LEAGUE GOALKEEPERS TO SCORE FROM HIS OWN END or FOR US TO PLAY A LONG KICKOFF BALL FROM THE KEEPERS END TO THE OTHER END. TRY TO SCORE AND COMPLETE THE MOVE IN NO MORE THAN 3 MOVES.

Curtois: 20 goals conceded in 20 PL games.

de Gea: 22 goals conceded in 23 PL games.

Forster: 16 goals conceded in 22 PL games.

Proof Fraiser Forster is the best goalkeeper since Dino Zoff.

Aren't statistics wonderful.

He was culpable for a mistake yesterday, but defensively it wasn't our finest hour. Azpi beaten far too easily by Navas, Courtois flapping at a cross, and Ivanovic not being proactive enough to see Silva was lurking on the follow-up from Aguero. All goalkeepers make howlers. Cech made multiple last season, doesn't make him a bad goalkeeper. He's been let down by the defence a number of times this season, he's only returning the favour!

As a team we've shipped 20 goals in 23 games this season. Maintaining that rate (which should only improve; I can't see us conceding five goals in a game again too many times this season) would mean we'd end the season having conceded 33 in the entire league campaign. I'd say that's pretty damned good, IMO.
