The team he left behind is a title winning side that broke records, hardly a bad team.

But it needed to be freshen up and it lacked depth, it's a natural process. If you don't strengthen, you will go backwards.

yup agreed.

It was classic Alex Ferguson style of moving a couple or so each season and replacing them with HIS targets that kept Utd at the top of game

The next manager will have his own ideas and preferences, so some players he will not fit into what he wants. My feeling is Hiddink is here to bridge the gap between Mou and the next manager. He is starting the rebuilding process, and moving away from this team that Mou built.

It is not about the quality of the team. Mata was a great Chelsea player, but Mou had no use for him. Same situation will happen with the next manager.

So in Simeone's interview (which has led to headlines like 'Simeone distances himself from Atlético Madrid exit'), he says: 'Why can’t I be here longer? Why did I choose a five-year contract?'

However it's important to note that the interview was done before Mourinho's sacking, and all he has said since then is 'no comment out of respect for everyone.' Hope dies last!

Fixed!!!

Don't let it get to you mate. It's the response these guys want which is weird because it's not usual to want to wind up fellow Chelsea supporters.

Or maybe I'm wrong and they'll all start an Emenalo chant in Brogans before Watford....that would be truly hilarious.

Have Bielsa come in for a year or two and then Sampaoli to take over.

That would be sweet.

Because let's face it, Bielsa is just like Mourinho. Good enough for a season or two.

Bielsa implements an attacking philosophy. But the bloke is insane hence why his players get sick of him.

While that's a nice picture, it's a fallacy.

He'll get bored or something, but as a manager curiosity will get the better of him and he will manage elsewhere. Money talks, if Chelsea have the intention and the blank cheque to match the Simeone will be leaving Atletico Madrid.

Whether he should or not, is another issue. I agree with you that we should go for a more open/positive manager, but Simeone would do wonder for organisation and defence.

Never knew you were the inner conscience of Diego Simeone. It's a pleasure to meet you.

Let them try it at the Bridge during a game...
