What I mean is less about transfers and more about having an authoritative manager who is the undisputed boss of the footballing side of things. No meddling from the owners, no meddling with the medical department, no being told that they must play certain players to “maintain their value,” etc.
Basically, we need a serious manager but most importantly we need that manager to be able to do his job without interference. Maresca seemed to earn the respect and buy-in from the squad and was well on his way to building something. Then the owners once again undermined him with stupid summer signings and interfering with his job.
