Conte at Spurs is much easier to handle than at ManUre from a pure rational perspective but it does itch me a little bit that he would go to a rival despite how much he is still revered by Chelsea fans. Anyway, there is not much loyalty left in footy, esp from managers.

cheers Nuno for beating City tho. Really weird why Levy is so trigger happy now after giving worse managers like Mou, Jol and Ramos years. Might be smth personal behind that as well.

If Conte did the same with Inter being an ex Juve Captain and legend, what makes you think he won't do the same with Tottenham?

He had the taste of CL exposure and money, he will want that back again.....they are desperate as fuck.

Conte is more of a fit for Spurs than Nuno was ever going to be. That squad looks like it has to play a back 3, with wingbacks like Regulion and Emerson/Doherty.

Be interesting to see if they finalise a deal for him now after failing 4 months ago. And if it falls apart or lasts.

Jol was pretty good, consecutive 5th place finishes with a bang average squad.

Regarding Conte, he went to his beloved clubs major rivals so he was never going to spare us if the chance came along. I do think we'll smash them at The Bridge in his first return, I believe Jose's thumping on first return was karma for the way he behaved at the end of his tenure and I Conte's due some of the same.

Probably means if United are to make a change it won’t be until the season is over. They’re stuck with him for good now that the only world class replacement is off the table.

It also probably means that if Ole does go at season’s end they’ll either hope Pochettino is gone from PSG or they’ll target one of the two hot property British managers in Rodgers or Potter. To be honest I think Rodgers would be a smart longer term hire.

Either way United will have the weakest, least accomplished manager BY FAR of the top clubs for the foreseeable future.

At this rate, Solskjaer is gonna outlast every other manager in the league.

This. I never expected him to turn down a Premier League club because of his Chelsea connections, especially since his reign here ended in a bitter taste with a lawsuit. Then again it's a still bit disappointing seeing him on the verge of signing for Spurs.

United club hierarchy absolutely love him because he’s a smiling Yes Man who they have total control over. He won’t ever criticize them, he won’t ever act out, he won’t ever make them look bad if transfers don’t go his way.

This is clearly why they were terrified of bringing Conte in. He’s too much of an alpha male for them and would kill them if he didn’t get his way.

After LvG and Mourinho (who are both also alpha male, dominant personalities) burned them they’re scared of that sort of manager again. Potter or Rodgers would be similar to Ole. Two managers taking a gigantic step up and just happy to be there.

It seems odd that Conte & Levy couldn't come to an agreement over the summer but have miraculously come to one now.

Either way, we all know that if he does actually join them, it won't last long.
