I see Spuds have completely broken Conte. Explosive and damning post match comments from him.

Most people questioned from the start why on Earth he would want to go there. A club of perennial losers with a chairman who notoriously doesn’t help his managers. A serial winner and highly demanding manager like Conte who is at his peak (unlike Mou when he was there) was crazy for choosing to go there.

Conte should’ve waited until this coming summer. Could’ve perhaps had the PSG job or something.

I love a laugh at Spurs as much as anyone but this is Conte's MO, he'd behave like this even if he was at City.

There's a reason he's had to resort to going to Spurs in the first place despite still being in or around his prime, all the big cats have come to the conclusion he just simply isn't worth the hassle.

Marc Guéhi became one of the youngest captains in Crystal Palace history when pulling on the armband against Watford on Wednesday evening, and led his side to a clinical 4-1 victory.

The 21-year-old centre-back has skippered England Under-21s before and at Vicarage Road was given the armband by Patrick Vieira for the first time.

He spoke with Palace TV alongside goalscorer Conor Gallagher to explain his feelings – but he wasn’t the only one brimming with pride.

“It was a massive moment,” Guéhi said. “Not something I was expecting.” Not for the first time the centre-back stops to laugh, asked by Gallagher: “What are you giggling for?”

Composing himself, the summer signing continued: “It was not something I was expecting. I got told just before the game and for me it’s a huge honour to be captain at this club. To have the backing of the manager and players is fantastic.”

Gallagher, who has grown up alongside Guéhi at Chelsea, Swansea City and England, then gave his view: “Marc you can tell is going to be a captain in his career because of the way he is on and off the pitch.

“When I found out he was captain tonight I was really proud and happy for him. I know it will mean a lot to him and his family and he deserves it because he’s been fantastic so far.”

Turning his attention to the game, Gallagher said: “It was a great performance, especially in front of goal, which is very important for us because I feel like that’s what we’ve been lacking recently. So we’re really happy to get four goals tonight.

“The most important thing was they [the goals] put us in the lead and gave us a bit of confidence going forward, so I was really happy to get a goal tonight.”

Finally, Guéhi added: “[Conor’s goal] was right up there! From the touch to the finish it was a fantastic goal. He got his first touch out of his feet and then what a fantastic finish right into the top corner. Hopefully there’s more to come for him.”

I just think he needs to find a club that’s as bloodthirsty to constantly improve as he is. It could’ve worked out here if we didn’t pull our usual “let’s stand still after winning” bullshit. Inter sold him on an ambitious project and then pulled the rug from under him by telling him that they had to sell for financial reasons.

If he went to a club like PSG who will buy him every player he asked for I think he’d be happy.

Remember when we were comfortably ahead of Liverpool? Remember when we looked superior to them with 11 men and held them with 10?

It’s so fucking gutting that injuries completely killed our chance at contending with the top 2. Would we have enough attacking firepower even with James and Chilly the whole season to win the title ahead of those two? Probably not. But we could’ve at least made it respectable. Seeing a Liverpool side who we made look average (and who were average to start the season) likely finish a country mile ahead of us is so annoying.

We haven't been comfortably ahead of Liverpool in years tbh. We are always a tough opponent but Liverpool have been a machine racking up 90+ points in multiple seasons. We haven't done that since Conte.

We dont necessarily need to be ahead of Liverpool or City either in terms of performance. Those standards are ridiculously high. Like Jose’s team here between 04-06. Or the Invincibles. Or Fergies 07-08 (IIRC) team with Ronaldo, Tevez and Rooney uptop amongst many examples.

Just have to match theirs/improve our own consistency and ability to get results even when struggling.

City may blow teams away anywhere between 4 to 7 goals to nil like 5 or 6 times a season minimum but when things aren’t going well in games, or they seem off in front of goal, they manage to cross that mental barrier and turn 1 points into 3 points. As do Liverpool. That is what we have struggled with and then ultimately we drop points.

Obviously we want to reach those levels but those standards are ridiculously high and our business/club model isn’t geared up to give a manager that amount of time to achieve such a sustainable level of success. Because it has taken 3+ years at least for Pep and Klopp to get them that good. Hopefully Tuchel is the man to get this time though.

They have Liverpool, United, and Spurs yet to play.

Liverpool they won't win against.. but the other two...who knows. One of us definitely missing out. Hopefully not us! Especially after being comfy. Thankfully we won last weekend...

But fair play to Arteta after the whole should be sacked early on..turned it around.

We'll be fine. Arsenal will likely pip 4th by the way things are looking.

I haven’t even been able to watch AFTV in what feels like a couple of months because these cunts keep quietly winning. 😒😒😒

Arse going out of every competition has been the best thing that could’ve happened to them and I’m sure Arteta is thanking his lucky stars. Full, 100% focus on the PL and having fresh players for every match. Because of this, those matches they have against the top teams that you’d expect them to lose may suddenly become much easier for them. They can luck out and catch those sides when they need to rotate for other comps.

Feels like I say this with a different team behind us every week, but they are probably our biggest threat now. United and Spuds are too woefully inconsistent.
