Oscar couldn't shine Mounts boots in terms of pressing
Oscar was, back then, a better scorer than Mount is now
Do you think so? I remember Oscar as a guy that ran a lot and had insane pressing, just like Mount. Maybe I don't remember correctly.

I remember also in the WC one game with Oscar, in which he probably had the best game of his life in every part of the game. Might have been the first starting WC game for brazil. I think Neymar got Motm, but I thought Oscar should have won it instead.

I remeber him slacking off far too often, he WAS capable of pressing well, but he never really had the fire in the belly

wow, Real and Barca are utter shit this season
Atletico has two games in hand (versus meh teams) on RM and can be 8 points up on Real, and 13 or 16 points up on Barca (1 game in hand for AM v Barca)

New era is coming. It always amazes me everytime how bad certain big teams mess up their golden era by making horrible coach or transfer choices. Players get older and the board needs to act and get some new young quality players in or promote youth. They mess up every time

We used to be WC, but when our squad got older, our time was over and our transfers mostly were horrible. Happened to Man United too. They used to be a force. Now, Maguire is their captain lol.
AC Milan and Inter used to be insane.

People underestimate the importance of stadia full of fans. We're going to get some well weird results the longer this goes on

Home form is out the window, and we're missing our fantastic away support.

I wish we could assess the manager's job at the end of a normal season. (Which is why I suspect most clubs will be a bit more lenient this season, unless their teams are nailed on heading towards disaster) .

Chelsea is NOT the same without its support, and the club has some of the best away supporters in the league. And of course, a full Stamford Bridge is a big difference.

Now someone can easily say that having crowds back could have worked against us (just like it did at Everton), but you have to remember some of our best away form happened under Lampard when we were still playing in full stadiums.

Sorry @Jason , but that's why I think doing that points per game comparison with other managers right now., is a bit....pointless -_-

Wait what, now we are using the lack of fans as an excuse?

And facts are facts!

No. Look at results all over Europe, (I havent looked at South America) results are fucking apeshit, form is upside down because of the virus and fan ban

The history and growth of the game has been dependant on fans. If they think they can get the same game just by watching on TV theyre fucking stupid

Sure, having fans can give teams a boost but the lack of pre-season, the congested schedule, injuries, fatigue are far more appropriate reasons as to why results have been stupid. If a team is solely relying on fans to do well, then that team is shit.

Yup just as if a team was using solely a congested schedule as an excuse -as Klopp is prone to do- for a bad performance. Its various reasons, but if youre a Chelsea player going to a full WHL or Anfield they know what a rush that is. Any performer - a live band will be more creative, show offy in a live gig than in the studio. Its the cheering and abuse that makes it.

I would say players right across the board are slacking off 10-20%. No adrenaline rush, like a training game for some of them. They still get their 150k a week

No, I don't think anyone can hide behind an excuse.., and if the season goes to shit, no excuse will save the manager.

All I'm saying is we can't really do a fair comparison with previous Chelsea managers when the majority of Franks's Chelsea managerial career so far has been in an abnormal 2020, which is weird enough without the football taken into account. Lack of crowds, lack of preseason, compressed fixture lists, those aren't things that those previous managers had to deal with.

And this season, even the experienced managers are struggling.

At the same time, you could also say many of those previous managers didn't get to spend as much as Lampard has. I'm sorry but poor excuse is poor excuse and a lot of our recent problems have more to do with Lampard - e.g. his tactical selections, his in-game management, his style of play.

Just because others aren't doing so well doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't be doing better than what we are doing right now. Mind you, we have teams like Leicester (again), Everton and Villa, who have 2 games in hand, ahead of us in the table FGS!

We were the only club in Europe who had a serious budget to reinvigorate the squad , so I’d say covid is a factor but the excuse is less applicable to us than other clubs

on another note, it would be amazing to see atletico win la Liga , and anyone other than juventus win serie a.

Some might say that having 6 new players without pre-season will have its impacts...

However Lampard has been here since last season, not this summer. He really should have developed his own style in his first season and go for the best players for his system in the summer market. That clearly did not happen.
