Better rounded player who can defend and contribute to attacking (numbers don't lie)? for some reason don't think we are going to change your mind though.

Oh, no I was just asking. I haven't read much about De Rossi and it that sounds like it would be very helpful for our midfield.

Sorry for being offtopic, but I have a question for those living in England - every day I'm reading all kind of tweets and quotes and so on. Can you please name the most reliable newspapers/sources from English media? A top5 maybe?

Generally, the most reliable papers/sites tend to be the BBC/Sky Sports - But they only tend to report on stuff when it is 99.9% done.

(EDIT: Having said this, the BBC are in serious decline with their standards of sports journalism, not just in football but F1 etc.)

Then come the papers such as the Telegraph, Guardian, Times and Sunday Times which are more reputable than the likes of the Sun, Metro, Star, Express, Daily Mail etc.. which, quite honestly, I would not use for toilet paper.

Though, most of these papers have 'gossip' or 'rumour' sections which they will use to post far-fetched transfer rumours or just re-hash another story from a different paper - bottom line is take everything with a pinch of salt.

Utd won't sell him to us unless they get in real trouble as there is the possibility this move can be title-deciding. Anyway they have to see they can't keep Rooney without ruining the spirit in the whole team. At the same time they can't simply sick Rooney into the reserves as we did Malouda. We paid Flo-Mo what? 100k a week? Rooney will cost almost three times that much while not playing. They have to sell him and as long as he sits it out, they also have to sell him to the club Rooney desires. If that is us, I do not know. Still there might be another club coming up with crazy money, but the options are limited. Can you imagine Rooney in France or Spain? ManCity is not an option, neither is Arsenal.

Let's just use some logic here:

Chelsea wants to buy Rooney:

1.can we afford him? No, let's offer Mata or Luiz.

2. can we afford him? Yes, let's bid.

3. can we afford him? Yes, but United want Mata or Luiz in exchange.

1 - not going to happen, because we have the money and mata and luiz arent for sale as confirmed by mou

2 - most likely scenario

3 - if this was the case united wouldn't have rejected the so called bid

Also, if we offered Mata and Luiz without knowing if United wanted them, that means Chelsea wants to sell them both which I don't believe because Mou denied it himself. And you can get a lot more than whatever Rooney will cost for Mata or Luiz, so a flat out sale is still more likely than a player exchange.

So, I don't care who said what on the radio or whoever their source is, either Mou is a flat out liar and has no respect for Mata and Luiz or we just made a cash bid.

Did I miss any other possible scenario?

2. Sky Sports

3. The Independent

4. The Telegraph

5. The Guardian

6. The Times

Sorry if already posted but this was on red cafe

People saying Rooney is shit - think they're mad!!! Rooney is our ideal player to take pressure off Mata when he needs a rest. Just look at our win percentage without Mata!!! This would be a great signing for us - absolutely fucking LEGENDARY. - this is like Zola / Drogba style transfer... People moaning at 80 million - add in merchandising and it will be about 50% less ;)

Edit: how do I post image from iPad???? FFS !!!

Why would jose make us wanting and putting in a bid for Rooney so public unless he though we had a really good shot at getting him???

I don't think the club or Mourinho would've come out and said anything at this stage if the stories about Mata & Luiz being involved didn't come up.

Solve United's Rooney problem, give them £35M or thereabouts, only for us to use him as backup?

Manchester United will reportedly do business with Chelsea for Wayne Rooney at £25m.

(Daily Star)

Chelsea will return with an improved bid of £25m (plus £3m in add-ons) and may even go as high as £30m to get Wayne Rooney

I dont believe for a second Jose was telling the truth when he said yes to the Rooney or bust question. He's not Harry Redknapp, he wouldn't reveal something like that to the media without an ulterior motive.
