Full-back scoops online fans' award.

Ashley Cole has won the award for England Player of the Year 2010, as voted by the fans on TheFA.com.

Into the eighth year now, the online poll at TheFA.com sees fans pick the best performer in an England shirt during the previous 12 months.

Fabio Capello used 44 players during 2010. Twelve matches were played, the Three Lions won seven of them and scored 21 goals in the process.

Cole missed just three games, all friendlies, against Egypt, Mexico and France. Steven Gerrard came in second in the Player of ther Year poll, while Manchester City winger Adam Johnson was third.

Former winners of the award include David Beckham in 2003, Frank Lampard won it in 2004 and 2005, Owen Hargreaves earned the prize for his performances in 2006, and Steven Gerrard completed a midfield clean sweep with the award in 2007. Wayne Rooney was the incumbent having been voted Player of the Year for 2008 and 2009.

Very well deserved, i hate how people think Cole is a bad player just because what he's done in his personal life. I don't see how that makes him a bad player. You could be Adolf Hitler and be the best player in the world, doesn't exactly mean you're a bad player. Though very well deserved. Best leftback in the world.
