I see your point, but seeing Essien, Mikel and Ramires ALL in the same midfield makes me feel physically sick. So whilst we don't have a shortage of midfielders per se, we have a shortage of specialist midfielders, since we sold two attacking midfielders in Deco and Joe Cole, a holding player in Belletti, and a box-to-box player in Ballack and only replaced two of them.

I personally think he would be a great 'january' signing, cant think where he'd slot in even coming off the bench with danny, kalou, gael etc. all sitting on their battling for that spot to play either side of Drogba or nicko!

We could use him in the three in midfield as added pace and premier league experience with ramires still learning the pace? with obi, essien and lamps the top 3, pienaar, mceachran, beanyoun and zhirkov (when fit) isnt the worst back up,

but as you can see we can reel off plenty of wingers and midfielders but we have to look into youth system and inexperience very quickly when it comes to defenders, still think we need another one slotted in defence as a strong backup even if Alex returns in Feb!
