Edinson Cavani

So there's this guy Tim working at XYZ Company. Tim is terrible at his job. He is a chore, and although he tries hard he is nothing more than an idiot. Every project he touches turns to dust. Every company he advises goes under. His boss knows he's crap. Hell, Tim himself knows he sucks at his work. The directors of XYZ hired him in a moment of fancy without due diligence, for a fee to their rival company that shocked every intelligent person in the industry. XYZ is now trying hard to move Tim, but the problem is that even though he knows he sucks, he still wants his high wages and no other company is willing to pay.

Not really related to Cavani but just some story in the news.

The offer is not actually off by that much. How much do you rate Torres at ? I think a fair valuation is 18m pounds at the very minimum. 23 goals is not horrible, plus Torres brings in a lot of commercial revenue as well. He's our highest selling shirt. I would offer 40m euros plus Torres. Putting Torres at 18m pounds that is the 61m euros release clause right there. So we are off by 10m euros I think.

No, nono. It's actually at €5m. €30m + Torres == €30 - €25m = €5m.

Napoli would be retarded to take that. Unfortunately for us they're not, even if they might have The Waiter as their manager.

Not really, if Napoli really want Torres, how much do you think they will need to offer Chelsea (Roman) to actually get him? I would say around 15-20mi pounds...

Doing the math, all Napoli can get for Cavani is around 50mi pounds (selling to either ManCity or PSG). Minus what they would have to pay for Torres, it leaves them with 30-35mi pounds at the most...

Raising our offer to around 35-40mi euros, it makes perfect sense for Napoli/Cavani/Torres/Chelsea to agree to it!

Not really.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cavani stayed at Napoli. They would be imbeciles to take €20-30 million and Torres in return for Cavani. They don't even need to sell Cavani, hes got a long contract and even Cavani has said hes still happy in Naples. Rafa isn't an idiot too when he starts working with Edison he'll see hes much much better than Torres. Sure we all hope it happens but I can't see it... they will accept either €50 million or whatever his release fee is in cash or not sell to us.

Plus can you see Torres accepting a lower wage in a shitter league when hes stated he wants to stay here if they were to accept cash and Torres?

I would be very surprised if any of the things you said happens...

1) The option of him staying is pratically impossible, he already stayed one more year because Napoli's president asked him to. Now, he will want to gain much more money an to actually fight for trophies.

2) Why would Napoli accept 50mi euros and no striker in return, but would not accept 30-40mi and Torres? It makes no sense...

3) I can see Torres leaving to rejoin Benitez at Napoli, it all depends if he wants to play football and be happy or if he wants to make money and train with the reserves.

1) Napoli still hold the cards, as he has a few years on his deal left. Plus hes never stated hes desperate to move/wants to leave like Suarez has just done has he? Hes said hes still reasonably happy in Naples several times. Hes only said he dreams of playing in Spain recently.

2) There is no proof Napoli are interested in Torres, just because Rafa is there it means nothing. Rafa never tried to sign Torres at Inter did he? Would you rather 30-40 million and a shit striker or a full 50 million? I know what I'd rather. Who even says Napoli can afford to pay £175,000 p/w to Torres? They probably can't, in fact no probably about it, they can't. Some of the money we'd be giving Napoli would have to cover his big contract too so they would end up with less than 30-40 million too as their wage structure is inferior in comparison to ours

3) Same as 2, there is no proof Rafa/Napoli has the desire to buy Torres when he already has Cavani who isn't dead on to leave yet. Torres won't be sold, hes a big investment by Roman, if he was as ruthless as he was with his managers he'd have been gone by now but he isn't so expect more of the same until 2016 or 2017 when his deal runs out.

Dude, in what world you live in? As soon as Cavani sees the teams, coaches and wages he would be playing in, all your dream theory of 'I love Napoli' goes to waist...

Also, Torres and Benitez may very well want to rejoin forces. He was playing quite well in this last month and he has a way better reputation around Europe that you might think!

Every deal, specially a big one, involves many variables and choices/decisions. However, Torres + 30-40mi for Cavani makes perfect sense!

An easy way to see if an offer is appealing is asking yourself, if I was the one receiving the offer would I take it? In this case, if I was de Laurentiis, the answer would be no every time. This sounds like the rumours that Barca have offered Sanchez and 17 million for Mata - a massive slap in the face.

It would be far more logical to take the 50-60 million and reinvest in another elite striker rather than getting less cash AND an under-performing striker.

I would accept 40mi + Torres!

Fernando would do much better at Napoli than he did at Chelsea. He would be with Benitez, in a counter-attacking team and with a much lesser wage. He wont be do under-performing!

Also, they can do a lot with 40mi euros plus UCL money. Benitez is not such a terrible buyer and I bet he can find great players with that much money. However, what striker and how much money left can they get by selling Cavani and buy someone else seperately?

I'm not sure I believe all the rumours about Benitez wanting Torres back - after being our manager for ~6 months, he would've realized how dire Torres actually is now. I do think Torres would score more at Napoli, if he did choose to move there, but Benitez probably has his own list of transfer targets. Who knows, maybe they could get Jovetic or one of Benitez's inexplicable transfer targets...

The way I see Torres's inclusion isn't just that he might drive down the price a little, but it gets him off the wage book and closes a chapter on one of the worst transfers in football history. He needs a fresh starts, we need a fresh start and this might just be one of those transfers that benefits every party involved.

Amen to that.

I really hope Torres leaves and goes to Atletico. He's tarnished his reputation at this joke of a club and unlike Shevchenko he still has some time on him to repair it.

The way some fans constantly abuse him and deride him on here you'd never think he was actually the best striker on the planet at one point of his career just like Sheva was.

Liverpool/Spain irresponsibly burning him out, back to back hamstring injuries, playing an obscene amount of games in his early years and loss on confidence are why he's not the player he once was. As much as fans love to blame the player Chelsea are the ones who decided to waste 50m on him, knowing his injury history and current form that season.

The hatred should be aimed at our board not the player. It's frustrating watching him at times but he has had some notable moments for the club, show some respect for crying out loud.

A villain is someone like Suarez the racist, diving, biting, violent scumbag not someone who can hardly do fuck all about his current situation.

Anyway I hope he leaves, I'm still not convinced this club plays to his strengths and perhaps a change of environment would do him good.
