The year before Carlo came, aka the years Essien was injured most part of the season.

And most part of his appearances in previous years were as substitute, not as a starting XI.

Wrooooooooooong. Mikel was not starting XI under Hiddink. Since Essien recovered from his injury, Mikel went to bench. The midfield was Ballack, Essien, Lampard.

The fact is that Mikel became a starting XI under Carlo and must because Ballack left.

Zolayes and superfrank have answered your question perfectly. nothing more to add

But no one said Mikel is better than Essien in his prime. so what exactly is the basis for your argument?

I'm only objecting to your stance regarding Mikel being rubbish. He's one of the finest DM's in the premiership mate.

check the real facts ....they are available...he played 47 games in the Hiddink year

the year before Essien played 27

one final stat he is 24 in 5 seasons he has made 158 appearances ...without ANC it would have 170

The only player who worked with 3 and said something about it was Belletti, who said days ago that Hiddink was the best manager he worked with.

Checkmate.

To be fair with Hiddink incharge i wont be scared one bit of facing Jose in the Champions league.

The 3 reasons why Guus is Good at Chelsea is because

1- he is not a coach who you can mess with, he does not care if you are a big Pay player if you don't do it right you are out.

2- he can make player play with hearth for the team and help to recover players in bad moments.

3- is the owner men of thrus and advisor, so you better do your best or your ass will be in the line.

Now we are going really off topic...smile.gif

1.I remember Essien or Ramires often being brought on for Mikel at HT.How do you comment that ?I'd say he is slow in transition, doesn't provide the pace that our play desperately requires(check last season).

2.It wasn't always both of them.Ballack-Essien-Lampard was our midfield for many seasons.Mikel was never the first choice because we don't have the possibility to play with holding midfielder since Makelele left.Obi was presented as a new Maka, but never proved it on the pitch.

2.He gets booked for a meaningless faul while Vieira gets a yellow card to prevent the opposition to create a quick counter-attack and score.

It all comes down to this:

Mikel or Essien ?

Essien- 3 years ago

Mikel- presently

Your stats are terrible wrong.

League appearances as starting:

06/07 - 10 - Jose

07/08 - 20 - Jose

08/09 - 33 ( when Essien was injured half of the season, he player not because the manager wanted to do so, but because they had to ) - Scolari/Hiddink

09/10 - 21 - Carlo

10/11 - 28 - Carlo

As I said, he played more under Carlo and after Ballack left.

How could a mediocre/rubbish player have managed an average of 20 league appearances every season since 2007 under 5 different managers?

Maybe thats why in this period we won only one Premier League trophy and never managed to won a CL.

We need a better player than Mikel if we want to do better.

Thats it. Everyone, its been solved. The reason we only won one league title and no Champions League's in the last while is because of John Obi Mikel. He bribbed Overbro, he made JT slip. He was secrectly playing for United and winning them matches while making us play shite.
