themightyblue 443
Thought he played his role nicely today. Love his diagonals
ja1 1,166
Interesting to see that he has played only as a CB on the tour so far. Even with Lampard's injury Ramires played the full 90 in midfield for one. Glad to see Mourinho sees him as a CB because that's where his long-term future lies.He only played CB as we don't have Omeruo or Luiz, and as Azpi is away Ivan filled out at RB. Essentially we had loads of midfielders but just Terry, Cahill and Kalas at CB.Showed today that he is a midfielder. CHOULO19 24,332
Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing him going back to the Championship on loan this year. I think he can still learn a lot and develop there away from the pressures of the PL. Stats

Slam Dunk 1,442
Stretchered off in the U21 friendly vs. Scotland. Pointless friendlies strike again.
ja1 1,166
Was having a good game too as well. Was very disciplined, rarely lost possession, was winning headers, lots of interceptions, successful tackles. An efficient DM performance. I still think he's in a similar mould to Essien, Vidal and Toure Yaya though in that he 'can' play DM but best box to box.Massive shame about the injury. Stupid tackle that is pointless in a friendly. Sterling did one himself a few minutes later. Really hope it's not serious.

I would've liked to see him bring it forward himself a bit more, but Shelvey's been excellent in possession. Horrible tackle as well, hopefully it's just an impact injury and not too serious.Off topic, but I have to say I feel for Islam Feruz. Literally points where he's going to run, looking for the early pass, and is ignored every time.
CHOULO19 24,332
I didn't see it, but read about it on twitter. Was it that bad? I hope it's nothing serious or it could mean that he won't go on loan till January.

Doubt it was intentional, but a bad challenge nonetheless.England won 6-0 for those that care, Shelvey MOTM for me. Sterling, Redmond, Wickham, Lingard all played well. Tomo 21,751
Watford look good for a promotion push this term, imo he should go back there and if the hornets go up, there again. There's no rush for him. CHOULO19
Fernando 6,585
"A decision is not made in two seconds - you have to listen to the club's ideas. You have to prepare young players from the academy, with the next generation coming through, like Nathaniel Chalobah, who will probably make it into the first-team squad next season.http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/8876689/jose-mourinho-planning-for-an-extended-stay-at-chelsea Looks like Mourinho rates Chalobah very highly! CHOULO19 24,332
Really wonder where we plan on playing him, cb or dm?I don't think he can make it as a CB in England. Imagine him marking the likes of Rickie Lambert, Andy Carol, or Petr Crouch. EDIT: I actually thought this was Ake's thread So the above comments are meant about Ake not Chalobah
Phil Driver 503
But he is a kid and will improve physically of course he will be a centre back of the future, that will be his his position .

Liquidator 5,176
I really don't see the point of keeping him here this season. He won't learn anything from a couple of cameo appearances against Championship teams in the cups and someone we have never heard of in the Champions League group stages. It would be the same situation as was for McEachran and van Aanholt in 2010/11. Apparently there was interest in him from Premier League clubs in the close season so I don't see why we are holding on to him when he will be behind Terry, Cahill, Luiz, Ivanovic and possibly Kalas for a centre back position. He would also be behind Mikel, van Ginkel, Lampard, Ramires and Essien for a place in midfield. Even if we loan him to a Championship side again it would still be better than having him with us all season. You can have Mourinho teach him everything in the book tactically but there is no point doing so if he isn't going to get a chance to put it into practice by playing regularly. He's still 18 but he needs regular playing time to progress mentally as well as physically. To be honest I feel that way about a lot of our younger players. There are some that are ready to be loaned out. They have played for the under 21's and are mature enough to play professionally now and need to learn by making mistakes. If there is interest in players like Ake, Feruz, Blackman and Loftus Cheek we may as well loan them out.
