Chelsea 1-0 Man Utd

The 3 points were all that mattered tonight but fuck me, that was some horrid football.

I’m glad Boehly and Egbhali were in attendance there. They can again witness firsthand how desperately we need a world class striker and keeper. And once those two positions are sorted we need another attacker who can produce some magic consistently like Palmer does when in form. With his quality dropping off a cliff in the second half of the season we have too many inconsistent AM’s.

Things are still in our own hands. A comfortable Arsenal win on Sunday would see us move up a space, but that's irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

We have two finals coming up. I hope we can deliver when it truly matters.

Yeah, not even thinking about anyone else doing us favors or one of the others choking. It’s ONLY about us beating Forest.

Would have been nice if we had some highly seasoned mentality monsters in the side for this last match who have been there and done it. But if we show up like we did today it’s going to be extremely nervy.

The hope is that at home Forest will be even more sweaty and nervous and they buckle under pressure.

It would be nice to have players turn up when they are needed most. It will certainly be an eventful end to the season (disregarding CWC).

Need Palmer to really step up and bring us home like he has so many times since joining. Would be massive for him mentally to be the one who gets us over the line.

I really thought he had found his mojo again after his MOTM performance against Liverpool. His last two performances suggest that clearly isn't the case.

Need our big players in these kind of moments. James did that tonight with the assist.

A day like this is especially great because of how much Reece James gets abused on here for his injuries.

This. In a squad lacking world class players, I'd hold onto the ones we have as long as we can. Hilarious to think Gusto was considered a like for like replacement at one point.

Again though Palmer cannot be the only one to carry the weight. He has been doing it for 18 months more or less before having an iffy spell the second half of this season. He has earned the right to have a few off days. He is needing a summer off to recharge for sure. And we need better quality attackers for sure. Likes of Pedro Neto, who I do like, but he is probably a very good squad player for most top clubs. Noni, Mudryk, Felix - all need to go. Nkunku as well will go. But we need quality attackers to compliment Cole.

Reece with his crossing ability playing inverted/as a central midfield is a tragic loss to this side. He looks so average with Maresca’s system - like many players - like it eliminates the chance for him to do what he does exceptionally well, deliver crosses in the final third. He can pass the ball well etc but you don’t want him ticking over keeping possesion, you want him stretching the game and playing crosses because he has got exceptional delivery.

Ok the assist comes in a slightly more central area but under Tuchel in particular how many great assists/chances did he create from wider areas? Fitness always his issue true enough so thats why questions will always be asked but when he's fit he has to play as a right back and play more as an out and out fullback for me. He is never going to cut it as an elite full back playing in that inverted role because it negates so much of what he brought to this side in the past.

I was worried when I saw the United team. They went a lot stronger than I thought, so we did well to get the win, considering We had all our three strikers out injured and also Sancho and Mudryk unavailable and playing a rookie in a unnatural position. I did not see us breaking them down and was worried every time Amad received the ball so when James did that brilliant assist for Cucurella, that was a huge relief, especially knowing Villa had beaten Spurs as expected. I thinnk a lot of people were surprised to see Tosin play instead of Chalobah. I think Maresca did this for extra height, with the likes of Maguire in the United team and tbh he was excellent. Tosin won all his duels and looked really assured.

Caicedo, again just top class. Sensational performance once again. That run he did in the first half where he collect the ball deep from inside our half and drove through the midfield and fed Palmer, epitomized his whole game.

We defo need to improvise in attack though. We play Forest who have have a really good defence and top keeper. At least can enjoy the rest of the games on the weekend in peace now and hopefully Bourneouth do us a favour on Tuesday.

Why didn’t they get a competent striker ?

Well...I'm sure the club thought they had a competent striker when they signed Nkunku from Leipzig....but he just never recovered from that pre-season injury and at times this season, he was literally walking around the pitch.

Why is Mudryk being mentioned?  He hasn't seen the pitch in months and will probably be unavailable for a very long time.

Surprised that we didn't have any other youth strikers on the books as George definitely isn't someone you want playing up front.

As I mentioned you cannot underestimate manure cause they always try much harder against us, City and Arsenal. Plus their players are wanting to play in the Europa cup final so we did well to win this one, I didn't expect a win so I'm very happy but Forest away is another stressful day to come. We should have sealed a top 5 against Ipswich and those keepers errors against Forest and Villa. We could still tragically up 7th or 6th.
