Ahhh yeah! So we've never even had 5+?

Today got to be the day Cole, I believe in you

The answer to many questions regarding greatest Chelsea player ever is easy and consistent; James Peter Greaves. Jimmy scored five in a game for us not once, not twice, but thrice! Just for good measure he also netted four in a game 4 times.

It bears repeating that Jimmy played his entire Chelsea career in a relegation calibre side, keeping us from the drop almost singlehandedly. As soon as he left we were relegated.

CFC's GOAT is a no contest.

Jackson creates so much with his pace and ability to link up.

His movement alone makes room for everyone else to do their thing. People need to realise how vital he is.

His combination with Palmer alone is enough for him to warrant a starting 11 position. 2nd match in a row where they've combined.

I think the two of them have the most chemistry. If anyone needs to make way right now, it's Madueke.

Cute to see Brighton going toe to toe against this Chelsea side at SB. They will learn in time that this side now has way too much quality for that.

The cam angle was bad, but I did not see a penalty against Sancho. It looked like a really weird call and I wonder that perhaps VAR also did not have a good angle to dispute the call.

Yes, Sanchez was poor once again as was the D, but that’s expected… early days. We may be missing players there too, but how much we will find out this season.

Jackson was good! that selfless assist to Palmer alone was enough for me. He should’ve done better on that pass from Neto in the second, but it happens.

Enzo had a very good game! Prob his first strong game this season. Or maybe folks simply don’t value thru balls like I do eh.

wasnt crazy about madueke today tho. He as a bit selfish and did not work hard enough in D.

Palmer does look like a generational talent right there. I honestly think that his skillset is of the type of player that gets you CL, but yeah too soon. 😅

Looked like Sanchez lost all confidence after conceding that soft opening goal, not sure why he decided to rush out in the first place?    And then the 2nd goal, my god, why would you give the ball to the opposition player running at your goal, pressing up like a mad man.

The BBC webpage had the best commentary on the half time whistle:  Something like how on earth is this game not 7-6

Extraordinary match. 4-2 at half time !
No goals in the second half, largely because Jackson could n't find the net. Also because our defense had exhausted the number of giveaways for the day (n.b. Sanchez tried).
Brighton's high defense line was suicidal for them. I doubt we could score four goals if it was not for this. As if they were playing at home against the likes of Nuneaton - Torqay.
I will stand on Sanchez's mistakes. Those were Mendy +++ situations. I like him as a keeper -as I also liked Mendy- but these things ? Like a man who goes to the grocer and forgets his wallet.
Why don't we have a psychoanalyst in the team ? Only orthopaedicians ?

The non chalancy in Brighton's second freaked me.
Like me in the beach restaurant the other day. I was eating spare ribs with chips. Some little kids were playing with a ball nearby and the ball rolled towards me. Without even looking I sidekicked it back to them. That was the way Sanchez acted.

Let’s discuss what Sanchez has been doing every week or 2 without fail for years as if it’s new, and discuss it like oh that’s a surprise, hopefully he will Improve. Christ. This fanbase and the allergy to identifying and cutting losses timely, always wasting the best players we have by keeping absolute Ass around them year after year despite being actual jokes. The conversations around such obviousness being, but maybe, maybe it’ll magically turn from a dog poo into a wedding cake! Any day now! Christ

Funny how he gave an interview this week to say he's in the best form of his life you just knew that put the mockers on it.

Special game from Cole, his interview after with Optus the interviewer asked him about scoring more and you could tell he was annoyed he didn't get more, mentality monster that kid, without the attitude trip.

We owe it to him to get him playing UCL asap.

Must have been living under a rock buddy. 🤷‍♂️

Sanchez was called unanimously a bad signing over here and tbf he was a 3rd goalie at Brighton at some point, so not really surprising any way you look at it.

Don't think anyone here is expecting him to turn in Cech anytime soon. Think most of us had a slight hope Fillip would've been playing improving enough to become decent/good at some point.

Madueke was very, very good running that right channel yesterday but he reverted back to the Madueke that has disappointed us in previous seasons once he got into the box. His end product looked to have turned a corner against Wolves but I don’t think it has.

He's a very, very good option to have in the squad and will start plenty of matches. But I can’t help but feel that if Pedro Neto was in those same situations that he was in yesterday he’d have scored a couple of goals or set up a couple of them.

Well this the reason why we need coach stability. By January the coach should know which to sell and keep.

I doubt we can sell Sanchez at this time, and get a good keeper. We already knew that but the constant change in coach does not let that happen as for any coach gk is a little slower to identity then say a winger.

If Maresca is still here another season then I suspect next summer we fix our problems in gk and defense.

Feel like that's the reason why he was linked to a few PL clubs in the transfer window, particularly Newcastle with Eddie keen on his pacey wingers!

I just don't see Madueke taking that next step and becoming a consistent 7/10 player week in week out until he figures out when he needs to pass/cross the ball and when it's better to take on the man and go for glory.

You want a stable manager when you Know not speculate that they’re exceptional at their job, an outlier. Need to not even consider managerial stability until that exact station is better tuned. Maresca flaws have persisted for years now, not months. They haven’t improved despite better players at disposal. He exudes under-coach in every orifice to me. Cannot picture trophy hauls at all. Competing for one every 5 years eventually I can see, and some FA cups. Not the level accustomed to / enjoy.

Players don’t progress though in the way that football culture mythologises. What you see is what you get in 9 out of 10 cases. The majority of players do not improve much over time once in their rhythms of senior football. Formative years matter. You can see traits in xyz players that are them, tied to ego or muscle memory, too long ingrained. Shocked we went for him, shocked anyone rated him. But as it goes with purple patches of form, in hyping things up, for everyone who misses the damning nuances that preclude how the trajectory will go. Is not rocket science - is football. Who shoots to the skies and doesn’t is more obvious than what’s for dinner later

XI should be 8/10 players every game. Madueke will hit plenty of 4/10 performances ahead, just like Jackson and Caicedo will until they’re 30. I don’t rate it. I’m not buying in to crumbling standards and butchered abilities to assess players in these modern social media times. All 3 are absolute guarantees of inability to compete at the top level year in year out all honours. Sanchez. Obviously. Why on earth do people flip flop so much. Any flip flopping is proof a player isn’t it.

We bought Sanchez as apparently he's good with his feet, I said last year it's a myth, he's garbage with the ball at his feet and he should be dropped for next game simple as that

As soon as he’s put under any pressure it’s as if he can’t help himself. He chooses to do the riskiest, dumbest shit. When he’s under no pressure his distribution is actually pretty solid and as a pure shot stopper he’s good. But if we’re playing teams that like to press high and at all times he’s going to be a constant worry.

Really, a much of what I just said about Sanchez applies to Wes Fofana as well. He looks really solid most of the time this season until,he’s put under pressure. Then he panics and makes schoolboy blunders. At least Fofana has the excuse of still not being fully up to speed after 2 seasons out injured.
