10. Cole Palmer

With Lavia back then it becomes feasible to just play Caicedo/Enzo/Lavia in the middle and drop Cole, or try him out wide again.

That said I personally do expect as soon as he scores again he'll suddenly be our Cole Palmer again and just needs that goal to get his confidence back so I don't blame Maresca for just grinding through playing him.

Should have been an amazing opportunity for Nkunku once Cole's form dropped, but somehow he managed to be even worse than Cole at his worst. What a let down.

He has carried the entire club over the last year and obviously needs experienced players to help him because it is clear that the other players are not at his level. He had fun under Pochettino with Maresca the whole club is inverted FC .

It's unfair to blame Maresca only. He scored 4 goals until January, kept even hotter tempo than under Poch.

"Cleary not his level" players like Madueke continously playing dangerous, or at least occasionally saving our ass(Sancho, Neto, George). But he is like completely checked out after January. He screwed up countless chances to score since January, Maresca cannot scoee them instead of him.

Running out the stadium to collect Prada shoes from a BP station, not the best look.

Cole has carried the club for sure, he's playing where he wanted and he's not effective, to the eye, if someone has legit stats then post because admittedly this is how I feel, not a factual statistical statement. Confidence is shit, absolutely. Is football played 1v1? No. He desperately needs a goal and for Lavia to stay fit.

I was listening to the radio earlier and some randomly said something that struck at me. Full backs these days, what happened? I think only to the Tuchel team with Ben and Reece, and it was so good.

Funny thought actually, Ben C came on for Palace yesterday and I actually had no clue he'd gone there. Very sad fall from grace since that whole playing as a winger debacle muddled with injuries.

Anyways, chop chop Cole.

Palmer: let's loan him to Strasbourg, Liam Rosenior will get the best out of him!

I was the same with Chilly, I just realized Yesterday we loaned him out. As I saw, he hardly had any minutes in the PL, so no wonder, no big waves were made. Pretty nice to earn 280k/week and neither CP or Chelsea fan knows what he is up to 🙂

Is Enzo Maresca’s tactical approach exacerbating Cole Palmer’s goalless streak?

“Enjoyment”

One word — accompanied by a beaming smile emoji — captioned the story posted on Cole Palmer’s official Instagram account earlier this month, commenting on a clip of his spectacularly impudent first of four goals in a 6-0 home win over Everton a year ago. Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca alighted on a rather more sombre concept to describe Palmer’s contribution as Everton were beaten 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday: sacrifice.

“Nico (Jackson) finally found the goal today,” Maresca said. “Hopefully, Cole soon can score goals. But I think Cole’s performance was very good. He sacrificed, he was pressing well. So it’s just a matter of time for all of them and for sure they’re going to help us.“ Palmer’s streak without a goal now extends to 17 matches across all competitions, and he has arguably never looked further from scoring than he did on Saturday. In 91 minutes on the pitch against Everton, he had zero shots — only the fifth time that has happened in the 61 Premier League games he has started for Chelsea — and only one touch in the opposition penalty area.

The touch map above is consistent with a pure midfielder, which is a problem considering that Palmer has firmly established himself as Chelsea’s best finisher. His only notable run beyond Jackson on Saturday was picked out by a brilliant floated pass from Levi Colwill, before the ball was picked off by the recovering Jarrad Branthwaite after he chested it down. Maresca had already responded to an increasingly popular narrative in his Friday press conference at Cobham by insisting that Palmer’s struggles are not the result of his tactics. “The style of football we play is the same one,” he insisted. “The manager is the same one. The club is the same one. So nothing changes around Cole and Cole doesn’t change. It’s just mentally at this moment.

For sure, you can see that he is a little worried because he wants to help the team.” Mental or tactical? Evidence could be found in the Everton game to support both theories. Palmer spent a large proportion of his time receiving and passing the ball too far from goal to threaten Jordan Pickford. But on the occasions when the ball did find him around the box, the cocky assurance that saw him nutmeg Branthwaite en route to scoring a 29-minute hat-trick in last season’s corresponding fixture was nowhere to be seen. At times, he also appeared uncharacteristically hesitant to shoot.

‘The best player in the world’… Cole Palmer names Barcelona star as the world’s finest

https://semprebarca.com/the-best-player-in-the-world-cole-palmer-names-barcelona-star-as-the-worlds-finest/

FC Barcelona is now finally back at a level where even global recognition does not feel like something out of the ordinary. It has become more of the norm for the Catalan giants again, exactly how it was all those years ago. Moreover, even individual players at Barcelona such as Pedri and Lamine Yamal are getting the praise they deserve.

The latter in particular is attracting a lot of attention and praise from people even outside of the club despite being just 17 years old. As it stands, Yamal has already become the talk of the town as he continues to amaze the footballing world with his immense talent and performances in big games for Barcelona.

Previously, the likes of Fabio Capello and even Spain legend David Villa have claimed him as a favorite for the Ballon d’Or. Now, however, another big name in the footballing world right now has claimed that the young Barcelona star is arguably the world’s best player right now.

Cole Palmer heaps huge praise on Lamine Yamal

Cole Palmer, a key player for Premier League side Chelsea, recently spoke in an interview on Sky Sports and was asked about his opinion on Lamine Yamal following the tie against Inter Milan. For the Chelsea star, the Barcelona youngster is arguably the world’s best player right now:

“Mad, he’s probably the best player in the world to be honest.”

Moreover, when asked if it was his technical ability that impressed him, Palmer gave even more reasons as to why he has such high praise for the 17-year-old winger:

“Just everything. I feel like everything they (Barcelona) do goes through him and just when you watch him, it’s mad.”

Even when asked about Yamal’s ability to glide past multiple defenders with ease and how difficult it is to actually do at such a high level, Palmer simply stated that he could not even try to do something like that while laughing:

“I don’t know, I’ve never tried it.”

Commending the Barcelona star’s mentality

Lastly, they spoke about the mentality of the young Spaniard as well. For Palmer, it is something mightily impressive and it makes him a player that the Chelsea star loves to watch as well:

“Yeah. He’s actually got his confidence and he’s got no fear. I love watching him.”

As each day goes by and the actual Ballon d’Or ceremony gets closer, the praise for Yamal only gets better. His most recent display as well, against Real Madrid in La Liga, was yet again nothing short of being something truly magical.

This business of him playing miles away from the box needs to hopefully never happen again from the start of next season. Seeing him dropping all the way into basically the Caicedo area of the pitch to pick up the ball is ridiculous.

Very strange. Very strange indeed.

Not just him, all of the attacking players are struggling but what do you expect from this style of football… 70% possession, backwards and sideways first and foremost every time.

He drops so deep rather than stay in the pockets/between the lines. He either needs to stay put and be a bit more patient and trust that they will find him or Maresca has to encourage these guys to play forward quicker.
