The Next Manager?

It's funny how there was a constant narrative that managers wouldn't want to join Chelsea during Roman's ownership due to his trigger-happy nature, but look at the state of things now.

The sole candidate who was somewhat appealing has stepped away from the job. To say it's worrying is a massive understatement.

Not surprised, guys like Enrique and Nagelsmann probably got sick and tired of these absolutely retarded round and round of talks.

I've never in my life seen someone take so many weeks and talks to hire someone, for Potter they hired him in a matter of days but now suddenly take ages for managers 10x more reputed than him.

Seems to be they’re taking time for the sake of it ? By the end everyone will drop out and wouldn’t want to be part of our circus

I am resigned to a yes-man version of Poch.

I would have been against Pochettino completely when Lamps 1.0 was sacked but I think on this occasion he's a good fit.

He has a proven track record of developing raw young players and will instantly sort our fitness problems out in pre season.

Not convinced he's the solution to bring the title back home but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Poch is the safest option at this point. A bit boring, and nothing that gets u off the seat, but kinda safe. Would have prefered Nagelsmann but this would have been a risky move again.

How is Poch boring? He genuinely made Kane and elevated a tremendous amount of players through his coaching alone.

Bc of his aura of not winning big titles.

Either its true or this is Chelsea PR kicking in. We will never know 😅

Idc to be honest, my list was

  • A Nagelsmann
  • B Poch
  • C Enrique

Im kinda fine with Poch tbh. A good transition manager who will definitely improve our young players. But we wont win anything with him. But tbh I wouldnt expect any manager in the world to win anything big with us in the next 2 years anyway.

I'd actually agree with this. I've been lukewarm on Poch links for a long time, but he does have a track record of being given raw materials and building something with it. This is a largely young squad, so someone with that track record of developing young stars is important.

Hopefully the PSG experience will have toughened his mentality up a little and given him some experience of winning some trophies which he can take on.

Also following this season and the last 6 months of last season in particular, if we're going to be in transition for a bit, I'd much rather be watching brave, attacking football with pace, high fitness levels and a united press. Something to at least enjoy and you'd feel pretty confident that he'd provide this. Like you said, whether he's the manager to really take us past that first stage or two of a rebuild, and into a team competing and winning trophies regularly I'm not sure, but if he can do the first part properly, he'd get that opportunity first to prove if he can or not.
