The Next Manager?

Recommended Posts

strange there isnt a manager that seems to be number 1 target or one outstanding candidate that all fans want. Myself ive gone round from Sarri to Allegri to Tuchel in the past couple of months to who i want.

I also want Jody Morris involved in some way (if Pep can jump in Barca with no managerial experience why cant he?)

Currently i'd like Carlo in for a season or 2 with Jody as number 2 before handing the reins over - id imagine Carlo wants more than a couple of seasons mind

I'm quite certain at this point that we'll up with Sarri. It would also explain why Conte wasn't fired mid-season as Sarri wasn't available. I hope they announce it soon so the board can start recruting new players.

next big thing? havent we been there and done that with AVB in 2011? Its a bold move again but wont happen because the club will panic and not back the manager. Also David Wagner? No chance.

Bit different situation now. Back in 2011 we had a squad alien to any other style but their own, this squad is a lot more flexible.

All this about potential managers might not want to come to Chelsea or Arsenal for that matter because of no Champions League football is a pile of steaming bullshit. All managers and players are interested in one thing and one thing only and that's money.

Pochetino's interview after the game today was interesting and hinted a little at suggestions of frustration (Dele Alli's too by the way).

I think it would be silly for Chelsea not to at the very least make a play for him if we replace Conte in the summer. I'm not for one minute thinking we could easily get him and that likelihood may well be slim but Spurs fans can bleat all they want, Chelsea is a far bigger club in every aspect in this day and age and breeds a winning mentality across all forms of the game, something which may appeal to Poch who has already previously shown that he is extremely motivated to reach the very highest level. He may look at the additional resources here and feel this would be the step up he wants himself.

At worst, it winds up Spurs and hopefully will rock the boat and upset/unsettle things there.

I do not get the Hype about Sarri. The next big thing? He is 59 and has not won a single top-flight trophy or cup in his career. Nor will he. He kinda choked away the serie A title twice. Also I do not see how his individualistic style and persona fit our strange board.

I wouldn't say there is hype, especially not as much as there has been with Tuchel. Sarri had a career in banking until he was 40 years of age, then started coaching at a low level and worked his way up. He has only been coaching at the top level for a few years, so he is still quite new to football at this level. Now he is getting recognition because of what he has done with Napoli in the past two seasons. Add to that, that Napoli looked to be going backwards under Rafa. He brought in a few signings of his own and turned the team into what they are today.

Napoli haven't got the funds of a Juventus or other Italian clubs, and the current Napoli squad is thin so it's meant next to no rotation. Also, two of their key players sustained long term injuries, one being the LB Ghoulam vs Man City last year in the group stage of CL. They are still close to Juventus in the table and a win today for them would close the gap to within one point. To win the league over a dominant Juventus side is near on impossible, but he's running them close. People are curious how well he could get a side playing and competing at a club with a larger budget and higher quality players.

True but again it’s not the squads really  it’s the way the club is run. Change comes from the top. AVB wanted to change Chelsea and wasn’t given the chance to offload players to get others he wanted Falcao, Hulk, Moutinho for example he wanted everyone of them. If the club lets the manager mould the squad okay yes we have every chance with a younger head but not a chance it will happen.

...but his team plays that vibrant sort of football (although some of the stuff we've played under Conte isn't that bad), which is precisely why many people want him but like you've said 0 trophies. Napoli won tonight, meaning title race is well and truly on but they've choked in the past towards the latter end of the season. As mentioned above hes still quite inexperienced and maybe Napoli aren't as financially well off as others so it could be a gamble that would pay off if he were to spend more and mould the team his way but I think Allegri is a safer pair of hands, hes always seemed to get Juventus to play excellently in Europe and progress to a certain round where Conte couldn't get them to. They aren't particularly fixed to one style of football either and tactically flexible as Allegri seems to switch from playing with a back 4 and wingers to a back 3, wing backs and second striker depending on some games although I think theyve been playing with a back 4 more often than not this season. Not saying that means Conte is a worse coach than Allegri, think that the Euros with the Italian NT showed a lot of people that Conte is an exceptional coach, think many people were concerned with the fact he'd only achieved success at club level in Italy where Juve were the best team but hes shown here too that he can work miracles with limited players like Moses, Alonso, Luiz, Pedro and has improved the likes of Kante. Azpilicueta, Willian in some aspects of their performances.

I've seen a few rumours over the last couple of days about Nagelsman at Hoffenheim. Anybody know much about him? His record with Hoffenheim has been superb and only 30 years old too.

Are we talking the second coming of AVB or is there more to him?

With all the latest talk about rge Don staying on with us due to us not wanting to pay out the £9 mill it would cost to terminate him heres a report linked to it.

I think its all ell and good thinking about a young up and coming manager but how about things like experience in Europe, normal big club politics and having to deal with millionair plaers big characters and their egoes?
