More like a sideways move.   Still surprised that Bilbao went with the ex-dortmund guy ahead of Iraola.

Think Bilbao and now Palace are realizing, Iraola has interest from lot of big clubs.

From what is known about the process so far, it seems to be between Alonso and Iraola for us.

Until they take a step back and shut the fuck up and leave the manager alone it doesn't matter who we appoint.

This would be important for any managerial appointment. Lot of clubs have sporting directors but nowhere else do they seem to be in the limelight as much as they are at Chelsea or seem to have the kind of power they do here.

💣📋🔵Xabi Alonso, an early contender to replace Liam Rosenior at Chelsea.

(@mcgrathmike)

To be fair if the board get him and allow him to work I might get appease a little...still they are not good owners because of the debt they have put us on.

But if they want a return they need to change that nonsense and  back a good manager.

Alonso is a good manager because what he did with Leverkusen dethroning the powerful Bayern, only Klopp did.

So Alonso has the air of greatness to me. Not saying he will be like Klopp but he can definetly compete up there and thus would be good replacement for Maresca.

BUT only if the club stop with the nonsense of  buying young players. They need to work with the manager and back him.

Happy with Xabi, Xavi or Cesc.

I think these are perfect candidates for us. Players who have played recently, and that our younger guys will all have tremendous respect for and actually want to play for. Not only that - all of them have shown they can win on player and coach level.

I agree. Those are my top 3.

AND

SACK ALL OF THE FUCKING DIRECTORS

WINSTANLEY, STEWART, SHIELDS, SAM JEWELL, etc

Roberts the GKer coach needs to fuck off as well

Also another good thing about Alonso and probably Cesc is that it might make better players want to sign for us just to play under some legends like them but of course with the dumbfucks working at this club they will probably target only clowns.

Xabi or Cesc would be fine with me. Only downside for me would be a continuation of a aspect of our play that can make my brain bleed,The emphasis of playing it out from the back. So would mean a major overhaul from our defense for it to atleast not drag us down as it has.where as if we wouldn't be prepared to overhaul and needed to get the best out of what we got.then Iraola would be a better fit.

Also if Enzo can be abit Billy Big Bollocks behind the scenes because he's got a World Cup winners medal.then both Xabi and Cesc can open their treasure chests, match and raise with the same and much more.

Won’t matter he wont be here. He’ll be sitting on the bench in Madrid more than likely (hopefully).

I am also dubious Alonso or Cesc are genuinely interested in the job here. Seems like more BlueCo fueled PR shit, like Semenyo or Guehi on a free at end of season before City snapped him up.

If Real Madrid get Mourinho back as their manager, would be interesting to see if they go after Enzo or look for different options in midfield.

They won’t start with him if Jose in charge IMO and Enzo does go there.

You really can’t deny what a job Iraola is doing at Bournemouth considering the players he lost before the season. And it isn’t just a purple patch or a single massively overachieving season. He has now done extremely well in the best league multiple times.

If I were Man United and was being ruthless by leaving sentiment out of the decision with Carrick, he would be the perfect manager for them.

In a vacuum he’d probably be a great hire for us but the idea of some of our top players sprinting and running constantly like he demands makes it feel like a risky proposition. And we also know how injury prone so many of our guys are on top of that.

I suppose a big factor with whoever we appoint is whether we’re even in Europe or not. If we aren’t and can focus primarily on 1 competition where the new coach gets lots of time on the training pitch then perhaps an Iraola can work.

This is exactly what will likely happen and after we will hear how they always wanted Silva first and believe in his tactics and how he is perfect. Rise and repeat with these losers.

Cesc is definitely interested. A big round of interviews with Matt Law, Rory Jennings in the week the Chelsea job becomes available talking about his work at Como, future. Como President saying they wouldn't stand in his way.

All this is adding up to me as Cesc is interested. Of course, he is looking to get a fair amount of control if he's gonna join.

Even if Alonso rejects us and Iraola chooses Palace, I doubt we'd actually hire Marco Silva even though he's the other name on the shortlist.

The last resort might be Filipe Luis since the board likes him.

Marco Silva seems like he'd be the absolute last resort appointment if everyone we would truly want rejects us. The owners would spin it as a big positive thing because he has been fairly successful in the PL already for many years.

One of the briefings they have put out there numerous times now is that they know “they can’t mess up again this time” with this next appointment. They’ll really want someone to appease the supporters who are rightly super angry at them. If they go out and appoint Marco Silva there will be a huge negative reaction. And if we were to then have a poor start to next season with him in charge there will be a toxic atmosphere once again just like there is now.

That's what they've been saying since Potter. Same old shit. They've all got to go, had their chance and blown it (repeatedly). I don't mind giving a guy that has fucked up a second chance, but when they've bottled their 2nd, 3rd and 4th chance you've gone way past the moment where it is beyond question they should be moved on and we are easily there with the sporting directors now.
