Bar Harry Kane i cant see where are others Poch youngsters, he developed..

Quote from a 2015 article:

"Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Ben Davies and Nabil Bentaleb are all aged 22 or younger. Érik Lamela and Christian Eriksen are 23, Ryan Mason 24 and the full-backs Danny Rose and Kyle Walker both 25. Even the goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and experienced centre-half Jan Vertonghen are under 30.

The average age of Tottenham’s team against Manchester City in September was 24 years and 40 days, the youngest in the top flight this season, if still marginally older than the club’s youngest starting XI in Premier League history, which stands at 23 years and 97 days against Sheffield Wednesday in 1992."

+ Son was 22 when Spurs signed him.

Loris, Vertonghen, Eriksen as well as Alderweireld were already pretty high level players prior to Poch. They still improved but they would of been top players regardless.

Kane, Son, Dembele (although arguably he was pretty good with Villas-Boas), Rose and Walker definitely benefited from his coaching though. As did Alli but he also tapered off horrifically with Poch too.

That article using Ben Davies and Bentaleb as examples is piss poor though - as a bar for high level players, for them to be mentioned, shocking. Bentaleb & Davies average players who would/should of made the chop under a more ruthless manager/club. Mason & Dier also.

Alli & Barkley were supposed to be England's next #10 to be that goalscorer/creator from midfield, shame they both had zero footballing IQ.

If Poch does get the role, will be interesting to see how he sets the teams up and gets them motivated.   Between James/Gusto, Fofana, Badiashile, Colwill, Chilwell, Enzo, Carney, Mount (if he chooses to stay), Mudryk, Broja, Madueke...there's quite a bit of talent in there.

Carney is a good level below all of them for me, if we could get the £15-20m we paid for him back, it would be a win and a help towards cutting the squad.

Its inevitable that three (maybe even all four) of Chalobah, Gallagher, Mount and Broja could be sold this summer for recouping funds. Putting Carney in that group would also be a good move as there has to be “sacrificial lambs” so to speak this summer as its unlikely we will get rid of every outcast due to high wages or lack of suitors unless we just sell them cheaply (which I doubt Boehly and co will do).

I’d like us to push to keep Mason as I think Poch will utilise him. And Broja but it depends, he could have suitors again like he did with West Ham in the previous summer. The likes of Mendy/Kepa, Ziyech, Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek & Aubamayang won’t make as much fee wise but the majority have significantly bigger salaries so shifting some of them will also help but its more can we shift a lot of them that worries me. All of these average underperforming fringe players will be incredibly difficult to move though.

Thats what also makes me concerned about City interest in Kovacic & then before he signed a new deal, their links to Chilwell.  If there is no movement on a new contract for Kova in the next month or two, I do think City will try pick him up as they could lose Gundogan and it likely wouldn’t be for a huge huge fee either - maybe around 35-40m mark due to his age and contract duration.

I really get the feeling its going to be a weird and difficult summer for us - particularly to shift players. The squad is absolutely colossal in size including all the loanees who will return (22 out on loan ATM and some of them they will be difficult to shift as they have been previously). Then the 31 players we already have. Yes everyone isn’t going to want to stay due to the squad size but we won’t be in as strong a position to sell players as we have been in previous years due to the fact we need to 1) trim the squad and 2) recoup money to reinvest.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Poch gets on but any success is going to be paramount on shaping the squad. And before we can add to it we really need to lose a lot of dead weight.

Agree with your points, just feel personally that Carney could be a solid squad player moving forward and he also ticks the HG box for the PL criteria.   Feel like we'll need to hang onto 1-2 of the HG players purely out of necessity to make up a 25 man squad.  Not sure if the rules have been relaxed on that but I do recall it was 17 foreign players + 8 HG players for the PL squad and in the past we had the luxury of having some of the squad players classified as U21 (e.g. CHO, RLC, Mount, Abraham, Reece).

Kovacic will likely have to be sold, same as Gallagher & Chalobah to recoup whatever funds we can get.  Wonder if Maatsen gets sold as well as he won't want to stick around as 3rd choice LB behind Cucurella over here.

  • RLC - I don't see him taking a wage cut to leave the club, maybe if Palace are interested, seemed to like it over there
  • CHO - similar to RLC, no-one's going to pay him 120k a week to be bang average, maybe a mid-table side gives him a go for a low transfer fee
  • Pulisic & Ziyech - anything in the 10-15 million range and we should sell immediately
  • Aubameyang - there will be a few teams out there that need a backup striker
  • Lukaku - we can only hope someone comes in for him
  • Havertz - wonder if Bayern Munich are keen to bring him back to the Bundesliga as I just don't see where he fits, he's not a #9, he's not a #10 and he's definitely not a winger

Yes, lets sell all the proven players bar Auba who won us the Champions League, Super and World cup and bring in a bunch of 10 or more players who may end up being bang average and win the club nothing for 10 years!!!!!!!

Out of the guys that was listed its hardly key cogs to the CL success now was it?

Pulisic & Ziyech proven? Proven to be shit and not up to it maybe.

Havertz also hardly proven considering one week he looks ok then he doesn’t resemble a footballer for 8 or 9 on the trot. Like saying keep him only because he scored a CL final goal - was it same story for Torres because he scored a CL semi final goal? Or a Europa League final goal? No

Ruben & CHO probably never be regulars regardless of their salaries.

So whats the issue getting rid of them? The club should want to keep Kova and Mount but realistically if we struggle to offload others and theres no movement on their contracts - they will be sold.

Tiresome of some of the fan base lately generically on phone ins etc about we should have got an elite manager like Zidane etc etc like when do people take a step back and have a think about us as a club? When did we last win the league? Yes we’re a big club, spoilt by success and a beloved owner in Roman.

The reality is that we are in transition, therefore looking at what Poch did at previous clubs, and I really do discount PSG it’s a joke of a club for management (pot kettle..), but I’d rather have someone who has consistently worked with bringing a squad up. Would anyone then be against someone else coming in after a few years to finish the job if Poch was never able to take that step? No. We’ve got a talented squad, albeit it needs trimming, but the owners are realising their mistakes e.g rehiring the medical staff.

Get the season ended and onto preseason, I’m happy with Poch coming in.

All this argument about selling or keeping players at this point, is moot.

I'd like to see how this squad performs under a competent manager first.

Almost all our squad is playing below par, and they've all been managed by a bunch of flatfoots for an entire year almost.

Interesting that all these crap players are wanted by top clubs in Europe, Kova by Man City and Bayern, Mount by Liverpool, KK by Juve. RLC by AC Milan and Ziyech by PSG.

Like usual, watch them spring into beast mode the moment they leave Chelsea…
