The Next Manager?

Recommended Posts

I believe that 95% of the managers are sacked because of lousy players and only 5% are incompetent (and Potter more likely than not falls in the 5%).
What do you do when your players are lousy ?
You kick them all out ? Then there will be no match next week and you relegate because you don't have a squad.
You buy an entire new squad ? Has to be the transfer window plus dig a treasure from somewhere.
So throughout human history the manager pays the price.
Therefore with either Enrique or Nagelsman I will be happy, but whoever it is has problems to solve.

I prefer Enrique but I would be happy with Nagelsmann too.

With Nagelsmann, we become a little less consistent in team selections and more direct in how we play.
With Enrique, we will be more consistent in the team selections and a little less direct in how we play.

Both play with high and energetic pressure.

The most important thing of all is that the supporters stand behind whoever gets the honor of leading the team when we stand with two incredibly exciting names head to head.
I am completely convinced that both have the potential to be really successful if they get the right environment around them and support from the stands.

Exciting times!

As someone mentioned why no one signed Enrique after Barcelona

as far as I remember in Roma and Celta he was a disaster under 40 % wins rate ( with both clubs)

Because he took a sabbatical year and then took over Spains NT?

I think I lean towards Enrique. Nagelsmann feels like a German Graham Potter in some ways, could see it working but could also see a lot of the same problems persisting. At least Enrique is a big name with player appeal, and a trophy cabinet behind him.

Frank Lampard could make sensational return as Chelsea manager | @Alex_Crook #CFC

Lampard a tentative option at this stage but comes into the equation if top targets Nagelsmann and Enrique do not want to take over until the summer. Not sure how long Bruno ideally wants to be there due to attachment to Potter. Lamps visit last night was pre-planned #CFC

Why not Pochettino?

If he managed to take suprs to the CL final, he can win some trophies with us 🙂

I think he and Nagelsmann are similar in lots of ways, I think either would be OK but Nagelsmann is sort of flavour of the month in some ways. I think any of Enrique, Nagelsmann or Poch would be a big upgrade on Potter.

I have the general feeling that the style of football Pep has advocated for is overall the one that works the best over the long run, rather than the ultra high pressing approach which to me seems to bring short to medium term success only, so I'd probably go with Enrique. Pep (and now probably Arteta) have just won so many titles playing this way that it just feels like they've won the debate, and we should commit to it for the long term and make it work.

Lamps until the end of the season? Man, idk.

If we suddenly flip a switch and look really good for the rest of the way I’d be terrified that the owners would give him the job permanently again which would be a massive mistake.

Also, you know Mount would walk back into the team. He’d probably drop Felix who has been the fulcrum and key to our attacking link between midfield and forward line since he’s been here.

He's not a bad idea till the end of the season... better than Bruno imo.

It's not going to happen, we are looking to bring someone in now. It doesn't make any sense, having JN or Enrique starts the process so things are well underway for the new season. They can see the players for the remaining games and make their own take and help with the deadwood shift that is required to what they see.

Interim now means more delay of ideas

If Lampard accepts coming in as a caretaker, then he is all but giving up on his managerial career.

He might see it as an opportunity, but there is no way someone so young agrees to this if he believes that he's got a future as a manager.
