I thought Sarri was billed as the type of coach that doesn't need specific players.

Also, I agree, Rugani and Higuain can stay at the bottom of the list.  An RW and attacking midfielder should be a higher priority than both of those.  IMO.

I think like any manager he is going to give his recommendations to the board, the difference being that he isn't expected to be as difficult as Conte was if he doesn't get the first choice players he wants.

I do think the Jorginho signing is a big statement though and it would suggest the board are prepared to back him and understand that to change the mentality and philosophy of the current group of players so drastically will take a few new players in key areas to help smooth the transition.

Yeah, I heard it billed as "here's the kind of players I would like".  Which is why the links to former players is odd.

The Jorginho signing is amazing though.  There isn't a lot of time before the season starts and having Jorginho involved in the training will (in theory) make it a bit easier to get the team playing the right way, since he's the metronome.

we generally give the new manager what he wants or atleast give a serious attempt to, it`s usually later on the club steers away from that.

I think Sarri will be given this window and maybe January to inject some ready made talent but will be told that he`s wanted to get the best out of the majority of the current squad and our youth and players that have/are being loaned out.

Yeah and I can also understand the links with defenders too because that I think will be the hardest area to adapt to this new style, being more expansive and learning to play out from the back.

The attackers should be very willing to buy into a style that is more attack minded and play to their own strengths, especially after this last season.

Here is another write up on Sarris style of play that I know many on here will really like

The Sarri Experiment - Napoli 4-3-3

Here also is an 11 a side using 1/2 length pitch. Its interesting to see how the formations all move as one and the players dont move off individually often

HOW'S YOUR TOUCH?

WATCH: Napoli played 11-a-side on half a pitch and it’s absolutely mesmeric

Maurizio Sarri's unconventional training methods were on show during Napoli's latest training session

And to save peeps from looking thru the thread here is the link on the False 9

@Adnane's post expresses a lot of my thoughts so I won't repeat them. But I will add.

Azpi is still by far the best player we have for RB as Darrin likes to play. He is underrated technically, and is actually a very good passer and decision maker (which is vital for a defender for sarri). He is always looking for the best pass and has the ability to play in pretty tight spaces. He's obviously a willing runner and is smart in his pressing.

He's not the perfect RB for sarri but like Adnane said, managers adapt. Azpi is too brilliant to consider dropping at this point.

Sarri only plays with one attacking full back when fit it was Ghoulam down the left Hysaj doesn't bomb forward nearly as much, which i feel would suit Azpi very well in fact

I was thinking more of Emerson along the lines of a Ghoulam character.

Good at holding the ball, dribbling, short and long passer, good crosser and runs allot.
