DYC. 7,542
Agree with all of this except for potentially losing our best players. Honestly, Hazard is the only one any top clubs would be after considering our other star players have been so poor recently.Hazard is far and away our best and most important player. No chance we'll sell him. Short of him handing in a transfer request and pulling a Raheem Sterling I think Roman and the club will refuse any offers. The supporters would go mad if we sold him.We may become Liverpool of the past decade if we start selling players. We won't allow that to happen.Don't forget about Courtois and to a lesser extent Willian (and possibly Pedro). I agree with you. I don't believe in the club being forced to sell at all. There's only a handful of clubs able to afford the fees and wages. Don't think the elite (Bayern, Barca, Real) will be interested in them. Though I can see Real wanting Courtois and Pedro could return to Barca possibly. English clubs don't stand a chance so that leaves you with PSG. Don't think Hazard or Courtois would make that move. Willian and Pedro maybe. The likes of Cesc, Diego and Oscar could leave but I don't expect it. Wouldn't hurt the club too much either. The only problem I see is the new blood. People always say look at Utd. Signings a la Schneiderlin, Herrera, Blind, Rojo, Schweinsteiger, Depay, Martial aren't upgrades. It will be hard. A top 4 miracle will be necessary for better signings in 2016.

We won't allow that to happen.I wouldn't want to lose Hazard obviously, but there is nothing we could do if he wants to leave. Chelsea policy is that they will sell a player if he wants to leave and the price is right. We have never held a player against his will, we are not going to pull a Spurs or Pool anytime soon.I share Chelsea belief, if Hazard wants to leave, good luck to him and thanks for the years, lets move on make the best out of the situation.Another player we could lose is Courtois, he is highly rated by Madrid. I think Madrid is done pursuing De Gea, don't think Perez wants to deal with Woodward again. But with or without them we will be fine. Hopefully with. Like Hazard, though, the club clearly thinks of him as a fundamental cornerstone of the club and I doubt they'd sell at any price. As for Willian, he seems like he genuinely loves Chelsea and plays for the badge. I know it's stupid these days to think modern players truly care about their clubs but Willian seems like an exception. Think he'll sign a nice new contract soon enough. When it comes to signings I think the club will back whoever the new manager is significantly to get him up and running and the fans on their side. I have faith we'll spend a big chunk of change this summer. Doubtful we'll be able to sign the absolutely top players like Pogba and the like, but we can still sign very good, CL level players. We can pull an Arsenal and go to clubs like Real Madrid/Bayern/Barca and sign the players they longer want but are still top players. LDN Blue 7,903
Unai emery has been popular and respected since his Valencia daysOn this forum, certainly true. Outside of it, barely heard a mention.. And I spend a lot of time talking to football nerds. Not trying to discredit him, but it's interesting to see the levels of his popularity around here. What about him stands out?I think the only toast we're thinking about is the one after we win something.I presume you want Pep or Santa to come here. I'm joking of course. One of those isn't really possible. We're getting Santa?! Ossie the King

Leif 6,006
Pellegrini wouldn't manage us out of respect to City, at least not so soon IMO. He's smarter when it comes to PR. Fernando and Cosmin
Darogba 112
Don't mind pellegrini actually. Has done quite well at city and I'm sure he will be supported financially. After the special one's antics, it would be nice to have a manager who doesn't embarrass himself and the club every week. Also lets be honest, we are running out of options. Pep isn't coming, Simeone is mourinho 2.0 and to be honest I'm bored of that kind of football. I want to see an exciting attacking Chelsea team. He's smarter when it comes to PR.Mata is not only a lovely bloke but one of the smarter, more engaged footballers you could hope to meet and he went direct to United from us. Despite that he's still very well regarded by our supporters so I think you're maybe misjudging the PR ramifications of a potential Pellegrino move. I find it a tad tacky that our fans get success but moan about the way we get it, but I think that's more of a Twitter thing. I think they like Pellegrini's type of football more, plays attacking football, calm in the press, a gentlemen image. I think he's more Roman and Emenalo's cup of tea. Maybe the board and Roman will back him more?Simeone is basically just like a mentally fit Jose - he plays pragmatic, counter attack and fighting football with tough players, no tici taca football. Yesterday Atletico hardly took initiative in the game vs Malaga, and this happens often - they even play pragmatic against mid and low table teams when needed, like Jose. The only main difference is his image in the press, he is less arrogant. I am not sure the current players fits his style of play.
