Thor 2,704
People give Iva way too much crap on here. I have had a few performances where I have cracked it at him while watching, but people talking as if he has been poor the whole season defensively? Seriously? He is still a better player than Azpi, and if instructed to do so, he'd defend better than him too. He is a brick wall, and 1 on 1 is still one of the best, if not the best defender in the league. I never see people cracking the shits at Azpi for never providing anything up front, yet Iva cops it if he isn't having a good day crossing it, or having a little trouble at the back. He is the best RB in the league, still. He has been asked to play more offensively, so clearly there will be a little less to give defensively. Plus he plays on Cahill's side, so cut him some slack. This is something I posted earlier, in the middle of last season... This couldn't be any further from the truth right now. He is one of the worst RB in the league. I'm not even sure if he is a RB anymore, seeing as he is hardly ever in position, and when he is, he isn't making any tackles like a back should. I sit here and yearn for the day Azpi is allowed to play on his natural wing, so he can cross the ball, and we, as a team can actually have crosses reach the box, and possibly our players heads. Ivanovic at the best of times was an average crosser. If the Balon D'or was won off how many times you can hit the defender in the thigh when trying to cross, Ivanovic would be a runaway winner every year the last 4 years. I say this as he is one of my favourite players, ever at our club... He needs to go. Azpi is our brick wall on defense. Iva has completely lost it. Thanks for everything, but lead from the bench. I'm sure you're a great presence in the locker room, and maybe that is where it should stay. Duppy Conqueror and BlueLion.

lionsden 4,689
It shouldn't have to take 4 terrible performances in a row. even if he finally summons the courage to bench him, Jose shouldn't be commended for the indecisiveness on his part AFAIC. he should have acted a lot faster kellzfresh
Unionjack 7,531
The thing is this isnt just happening. We saw it often last season. Parky 739
The thing that baffles me is Ivanovic was arguably one of the most solid RB's in football for the last few seasons. The dramatic decline this year is really baffling. Maybe it has something to do with Eva's treatment from Jose as apparently it was Ivanovic who was having an affair with Eva. termninja 5,290
While yes, I am a baldish big arse Serbian myself, and yes I like Ivanovic a lot, I have always been objective regarding him and his performances. And agree with most of you that he had been one of the major reasons for our results and all that stuff, but it's shocking to me how fast he had gone from hero to zero with the fans. Stuff I've read here has been shocking to say at least. His performances have started dropping not last season, but season before that. He was decent than but it was already being very average rather than good. Last season, decent first half, awful second half. Has Jose fucked up with constantly playing him? Oh yes a lot. Nothing of the above mentioned is even debatable anymore. Hopefully Rahman will do well and we'll revert back to actual natural full backs finally. Also he may have been grown frustrated with the club and new contract which wouldn't be fair towards the club because the policy has been utilized for all of our players.Hes a very down to earth no nonsense guy and hes been with us long enough to realise he wont be getting a long term contract. Hes seen us lose players that havent accepted (or been given depending which side you believe) a yearly renewable. And if JT has never had one then he must realise he wouldn't.This form isn't just happening we have sad these things awhile its just more teams have now noticed and taking advantage now and with him next to Cahill it makes the situation worse.I loved his character and retermination its what I like to see in our players but hes making it very hard for me to remember the good things hes done with us right now I'm sure even his staunchest supporters realize that its time he went.We have always been known for our defense under any manager and its time we had a major sort out. I just wish they had started looking much earlier thanwe have cause I can see us panic buying today. Gonna be a long season guys. Going to get rough on the terraces. termninja
