I think that you've misinterpreted my post. I'm not suggesting that Sanchez is good just because CIES says so.

I pointed out their ranking because it's built upon performance data. That's evidence not opinion. Much like I did earlier when people were saying that Chelsea's defence is rubbished, I pointed out that they actually had the 3rd best defence in the Premier League last year.

I'm just trying to balance the negative narrative by suggesting that maybe Sanchez isn't as bad as people are making him out to be.

did you notice that in the top 21 GKers listed

FIVE are current or ex Chels

3 current or ex Chels are in the top 11

https://football-observatory.com/WeeklyPost499

and a full third (7 of the top 21) of the top 21 keepers are over 35yo to over 41.5yo now

Chelsea in talks to terminate star’s contract at huge expense after failed summer exit

According to Football Insider, Chelsea are discussing ripping up Sterling’s deal two years early to end the saga once and for all.

By letting the former England international become a free agent, Chelsea would be helping him potentially secure a Premier League move next.

But Maresca’s side would have to pay Sterling big money to terminate his contract. The report claims such a process could cost Chelsea anywhere between £10-20m, which is similar expenditure to a new signing in some cases.

Alternatively, a club from abroad could rescue Sterling. Indeed, the transfer window remains open in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Mexico and Portugal.

Victor Osimhen was saved last summer after finding himself out of Napoli’s squad and a Turkish club could rescue Sterling this time around.

The 30-year-old does not appear keen on moving to Saudi Arabia, but such clubs have the best chance of meeting his wage demands.

If no exit can be agreed, then The Times report that Sterling will be forced to train with Chelsea’s reserves until the window reopens in January.

UEFA have confirmed Chelsea successfully balanced their transfer spending this summer to comply with the terms of a settlement agreement for breaking financial rules. Chelsea were fined €31m in July for breaking UEFA’s football earnings and squad cost ratio rules. As part of a settlement agreement, Chelsea could only register new signings for their Champions League squad if their transfer fees were offset by selling players who were in their Conference League squad last season.

The departures of players such as Noni Madueke, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson means Chelsea have been able to include new signings Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Alejandro Garnacho, Jamie Gittens and Jorrel Hato in their squad for the league phase of the Champions League.

Chelsea made a record £314m from selling 23 players this summer. They spent £296m on new signings to end the transfer window with a profit of £18m.

UEFA say they checked Chelsea’s Champions League squad to make sure it complied with their requirements: “The squad list submitted fulfilled the criteria of the settlement agreement and it was therefore already reviewed and approved before publication on UEFA's website.”

Chelsea are playing Bayern Munich, Benfica, Ajax, Qarabag, Barcelona, Atalanta, Pafos and Napoli in the league phase of the Champions League. Their first game is in Munich on Wednesday 17 September.

So if we signed Simons, we would have been over the cap?  😄
