Has Jackson shown enough to be a match winner? He scored a few goals but none that were game winners. We can obviously point to the League cup final and FA Cup semi final and say these are the consequences of  relying on him far too heavily.

We are putting an awful lot of faith in him going into next season unless we are going to completely rely on Nkunku and Palmer?

Evidently so. Which is a mistake, imo. Yes, I expect him to improve but do I think he’ll become a lethal goal scorer at the Haaland/Kane/Salah/Mané level at any point? Hell no!

Jackson is the perfect #2 striker for a club of our stature. Not the main guy.

I would go as far as to say that Jackson isn't a CF at all. He'd be more successful out wide, where his conversion rate would be less of a concern if a consistent goalscorer led the line instead.

That or playing as a second striker alongside a classic #9. If we had prime Giroud still at the club I think Nico would be brilliant playing with him.

So much disrespect on NJ as if top strikers always bang in their first season in PL

Don't understand it myself. I've been humbled so many times by players that looked like they had something but weren't quite delivering, that I wrote off, that then turned out to be world class. Even Suarez had a frustrating start at Liverpool, being wasteful in front of goal, and people had basically written him off when he established himself as one of the most dangerous players in the world.

He’s a very nice player who I’m happy to have. He’s just not (yet) a TOP player.

We're vulnerable enough with one CF, so I very much doubt this team could get away with two CF's.

My opinion of him isn't just based on his output or lack of it when needed. I've previously stated that his attitude is an issue (10 yellow cards for a CF).

Wonder if Olise is stalling and waiting for City in particular. City have been super quiet so far so wouldn’t be surprised if they’re just secretly waiting until they see what sort of terms Palace will accept before jumping in late. Don’t think we’d have much chance if they tell him they want him.

Thankfully, unlike transfer sagas we’ve been through before for high profile players, I’m not at all invested in the Olise ordeal. If we get him, great. If we don’t I won’t be that bothered so long as we use the money we would’ve used on him on another attacker of a similar quality.

His season was very promising for his age. Literally watched highlights yesterday of our goals and didn't realise how many times he turned a player or had a significant carry before passing it off to someone who then assisted.

He really doesn't get the shine for all the good stuff he did. Could he finish better? Yes. Needs to be more decisive. But he keeps putting himself in good positions. Its a numbers game. I'm far more happy with a striker that keeps creating chances for himself and finishes 50% than the one that makes 1 a game and finishes 90%.

Olise is ideal for us.

Works hard defensively, great set piece taker, decent at long shots and has some great vision to break down lower blocks.

I'd be bummed if we missed him.

Depends on who we miss out on him to. If he chooses City it’s whatever. That’s the hole we’ve put ourselves in in recent years where we’ve allowed City to surpass us in the eyes of players moving clubs.

If he chooses a United team that finished 8th and are a total mess on and off the pitch then even I as someone who isn’t desperate for Olise would be really annoyed.

Guess this ain't happening, trying for days now to find agreement with him..

Only natural to wait and see your options. There was a report that said CIty are happy to go into next season with the same squad if there are no outgoings. If that's true, we are in with a good chance.
