In that video vs France he looks motivated and up to it. He did also for us in the first couple of games, he actually looked good, but then he started sulking for some reason and now he doesn't look bothered anymore. The interview said everything we need to know - he doesn't want to be here and it shows. In most of the situations you see in that video he would carelessly lose to ball or get bullied by defenders playing for us - that's not something you can blame on the manager or his teammates. He wants to be recognized as world class like Lewa or Ronaldo, but he doesn't have the attitude nor skills to back that up. A tactical setup can only help you up to a point, but if you depend solely on the system being built around catering to your strenghts but otherwise are useless, then that makes you a "system player" not a world class one.

He is never getting the physical disadvantage he got in Italy over here and as for that France performance he won't get that time in club football (whilst it should also be remembered that is probably his only decent performance against a decent International side for them.)

People can say what they want but the fact of the matter is that the way he is looking at the moment is exactly the way he looked at Utd, try and slice it how you want but he is a donkey.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt so let's say in this hypothetical you are right. Tuchel went along with it. But there again shows the problem.

Great managers wait for the right target vs go for the wrong one. It boggles me how these same board members who experienced Conte's 2017 disaster window are following the same route for a player who is arguably the pinnacle of a wrong signing for us.

Add the fact Tuchel is throwing away a successful formula to shoehorn Lukaku in a system even my dog knows he isn't suited for, begs the question as to why he is doing this.

It's been an issue for years now. Managers aren't getting targets they really want but end up paying the price for poor buys.

I have this feeling that history will repeat itself & Tuchel could end up paying the price for a decision ultimately made above him.

I believe this board was more determined to sign Lukaku than it was to sign Shevchenko. I firmly believe this.

Torres was maybe manager wish, but Lukaku was wish from above.

I will repeat it. Board was so damn sure prolific goalscorer is all we need. Sign that and we don't have to sign anyone else and we will be able to compete in all fronts. They have seen that our team was very good bar this little detail. They went for Haland. Best option. Didn't work out. They went for, in their short sighded minds, the second best option. It worked out. They sold couple of promising youngers and sealed the deal.

Sorry, Tuchel wasn't asked. Because Tuchel would have asked for wingback, cb, striker, maybe even winger. It was easier this way. Hand him common solution. No question asked,. You are paid to make the best of what you have. Lukaku is too good to fail under manager of quality.

You don't get along with our solution? The doors are there. Manager doesn't want to stay without his paycheck and phones Lukaku.

If Tuchel knew he wouldn't be able to sign anyone else even if he needed due to injuries, would he splash all the cash on Lukaku?

Ousmane Dembele is the sort of signing Arsenal would make. Someone who is extremely talented but will never reach that top level consistently.

If he was cheap I’d take a punt on him in the summer, but it looks like they want him out asap.

Dembele will be a free agent this summer, that's why Barca want to cash him immediately.

So, you're saying you would want another inconsistent attacker?

Why would a club buy him now when they can get him for free in the summer?

And didn't he try to demand HUGE wages from Barcelona before this?

Yes, he did. But several Barca journos are speculating it could be a ploy to leave Barca.

I can see us getting Dembele even if it is for his last six months and we go from there. Barca look like they want him gone now. Six month loan is a possibility imo.

Not sure he is what we need as he makes Pulisic look like Superman with his injuries.
