I’m not negative for the sake of being negative. If the board didn’t do idiotic moves in the market or if the owners didn’t shape every decision based around making profit, I wouldn’t be as frustrated as I am watching it.

If you are soo easily pleased, acting like that CWC was actually a huge deal when in reality it was nothing more than a glorified pre-season tournament. Nice to say we have won everything but let’s not act like it was a CL ffs.. it’s embarrassing.

Also, couldn’t care less about making record sales… i don’t know why fans pay any attention to what profits the club are making..  you all act like you’re University graduates in accounting. What’s that all about? It’s football.. the game is about winning matches.

Looks like that CWC did more harm than good for us, didn't made us change targets at all, owners can hide behind it for a while now and a good chunk of the fanbase will believe them blindly but the giant elephant in the room is still there

- no front shirt sponsor yet (even if they get one in soon I'd expect it to be some record sponsorship given how much they wanked around saying they waiting for the right conditions and how much shade they threw to Roman)

- no news on stadium yet

- spent over 1.5B and the squad still has massive gaps to fill, maybe by the time they hit 2.5B we won't have such glaring weaknesses like GK and CB.

5 set piece goals from the 7. (I'll still take that though, we have looked deadly from corners and if Arsenal can win games that way, why not us.)

We still need to better from open play. Hopefully Palmer returning, can bring that back.

West Ham didn't show up. I wouldn't read anything into that game. We've struggled vs Fulham and Palace.

When Arteta was struggling and was winning with set piece...you all hail him as the second coming of Guardiola....now matches against big teams he is still struggling to score...I dont want to score and win our games that way...I want us to be better especially in open areas...but gas lighting our attack especially now we have new faces bar Neto/Palmer at the infant stage of the season is not the way to go....

I forget to mention the insane amount of money spent and not 1 established World Class player was bought with that money. Do fans not realise how crazy that is … ?? To gamble over 1.5billion on talents that maybe will or maybe wont make it… which let’s face it… around 75% haven’t made it and that’s why we have been able to make soo many sales. We have been selling off Cobham graduates and bang average players that were suppose to be the next big thing.

Sterling's priority is clearly to collect those 350k per week for the next two years and retire because nobody is taking him after 2 years without playing football. He is still just 30, could play somewhere for 5,6 more years regularly but for way less money. 

350k for the next two seasons is around 10m more than let's say 100k per week next 5 years. Plus without any effort. I think he just did financial calculation and gave up on his career.

You know exactly why the club, and therefore its fans, have had to pay attention to making a profit on a section of our transfer activity.

I'm sure you watched at least our matches in the CWC so I don't understand the basis for your, "glorified preseason tournament", claim. Teams gave their all in every game, coaches picked their top XIs, none rotated for the sake of it, fans whose tradition is for loud passionate support produced some of the loudest most passionate support imaginable. Not a single team invited to take part, refused. Some fans and ex players of unqualified teams cried and coped by pretending not to care but two of the world's truly great clubs, Barcelona and Liverpool, gave the game away by begging for invitations despite failing to qualify.

Your attitude towards the CWC is out of step with its reality.

I wouldn't say we struggled against Fulham, they came with energy and gave it a go with King + Muniz up top. 

Considering no Palmer and no real target up front with Delap going off very early and George being sent on as a runner, thought we did alright. 

Our next 6 games will tell us whether we'll be fighting for top 4 or not.  Hopefully Palmer is back and Garnacho is up and running on the wings. 

Brentford away, United away, Brighton home, Liverpool home, Forest away and then Spurs away (november).

Guessing there will be a mutual termination next season between the club and Sterling. 

Maybe something like Lukaku who agreed to lower his demands to get a permanent move to Italy.

To be fair to Lukaku his first priority was to play, not the money. For Sterling it seems the most important thing is staying in London and not moving his family. He has played/won enough to be satisfied. We got ourselves in this mess. Hope we find a way to get out of this situation without too much financial pain.

Like I said, it’s nice to say we have won it all but that competition holds about as much merit as it did before when we won it in it’s previous format…I’m not getting sucked into this hype that we won something truly special because it was our club that won it. I’ll shamelessly brag about it when giving it to rival fans.. that’s a given but deep down we all know, it’s just a cash grab.

Like all of us I'm delighted with the financial lifeline CFC earned by taking part in the CWC. Going into it I had no expectation that we might become world champions. My ambition was that we would maximise our income by reaching the quarter final before being eliminated there by PSG. At no point however did I feel towards the competition what you are now trying to tell me that I did. It is far, far, more valid than its predecessor and, unless damaged in the way I describe below, will only grow in prestige. 

The biggest threat to the future of the CWC might come from the top players because it would make no sense without them. While the financial incentives for clubs are overwhelming, the players bonuses won't mean as much to already super wealthy footballers. They would, I'm confident, love to continue participating in the CWC but may well request that the overall number of games they play be reduced by shortening or eliminating other competitions. Only if these conflicting interests cannot be resolved do I see a threat to the CWC and its status.

I believe that people belittling the CWC are in the same boat as those who poo-pooed the nations World Cup when it was first introduced. That's to say one which is destined to sink without trace.
