Chelsea are looking to trump Everton to sign highly-rated Lyon forward Malick Fofana this summer, according to Nizaar Kinsella.

The 20-year-old has been a joy to watch since moving to France from Gent in January 2024. He lit up Ligue 1 last season with jaw-dropping performances for Paulo Fonseca’s side and was key to their European qualification.

He recorded 17 goal contributions across all competitions, including six goals and two assists in just ten games in the Europa League last season, a testament that he can replicate his domestic performances on the European stage.

He has been linked with a move to England, with Everton reportedly at ‘advanced stages’, but it appears that the move has now stalled as Lyon will likely demand more than his £26m Transfermarkt valuation.

According to Kinsella, the Toffees have been heavily linked with the Belgian whiz kid but ‘struggled’ to convince him to join the Merseyside outfit this summer.

Everton could be usurped in the race for the forward, as the journalist claims that Chelsea are one of several other Premier League clubs showing a keen interest in Fofana.

However, the Blues also hold a ‘strong interest’ in Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, according to the report, so it’ll be intriguing to see if the club prioritises one forward or swoops for both.

Swoop

With tensions with Ruben Amorim persisting, Garnacho looks more likely to depart Old Trafford this summer. The Argentine international is reportedly keen on joining Enzo Maresca’s attack and is being viewed as a potential left-wing option alongside Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

While Chelsea have actively reinforced their forward options in the ongoing transfer windows, a choice between Garnacho and Fofana, who are similarly profiled players, seems inevitable.

Fofana, without a doubt, fits the mould of a winger Maresca needs due to his 1v1 ability and potential to become an even better player in time.

However, at present, Garnacho, who has significant Premier League experience, appears to be the more attainable target, mainly due to reduced competition for his services and the Blues’ openly declared admiration.

Nevertheless, the club are in no hurry to finalise a move, choosing instead to prioritise departures before proceeding with any major incomings.

I really hope we find out quickly who is behind this push for Garnacho if we end up signing him. Whether it’s board/hierarchy driven or is it primarily Maresca driven? Is it the business people who love buying low and selling high soon after that’s pushing for him or is it the manager seeing a player who could explode in better circumstances?

Because if this is Maresca really fancying Garnacho and baskin himself and the player to really take off then I can be slightly softer on this move. But if this is another situation where the club are basically just getting him with future profit in mind it’ll be fucked.

More like Chelsea is the only club that wants him.

True. How many other CL playing clubs are in for him.

Also, if we complain about Madueke and Jackson about their attitude, how does Garnacho become any different?

Garnacho IMO is way worse. You have his own team mates berating him during the game. Even without the off field antics.

I know someone with these numbers in Bundesliga:

18/19: 34 appearances 12 goals 14 assists

19/20: 32 app 18g 16a

20/21: 26 app 8g 11a

How that ended?

Not indicating anything. I hope Xavi smash it here.

I needed help from Gemini AI to work that one out. When I say '"help' I mean it just told me. 🙂

I give up

he is coming

I will support him

I hope he proves all us doubters to be fools

he certainly has the talent

dog willing he screws his head on straight

London and a monster team like Chels can make one glow or make one burn

here's to a glowing future for the lad

The reason I'm prepared to reserve judgment on this lad boils down to the opinion of a ManU supporting cousin of mine. He watches United as religiously as we all watch Chelsea and he really believes in Garnacho's talent. He feels that any coach or Club that can help the player sort his head out will have a tremendous performer on their hands. Of course this assumes that sorting his head is actually possible.

Genuine interest or attempt to keep Leipzig honest?

If genuine, for loan or for the squad?

If for loan, stay in Lyon or look for a Premier League host?

Mathematically, no.

You would eventually get done to as close as the size of a single toponium particle (the smallest known composite particles), and even closer, but never actual arrive at 'done'.

  • In their search for more flavors of Higgs bosons, a team of researchers at CERN stumbled across what could be evidence of the smallest matter-antimatter particle ever.
  • The hypothetical particle, known as toponium, would be the result of merging a top quark and antiquark as well as the last missing example of quark-antiquark states known as quarkonium.
  • Toponium particles, at least in theory, do not annihilate each other almost but instantly decay into a bottom quark and a W boson—one of two bosons responsible for the weak nuclear force.

Quantum physics is going to change so much we thought wasn't possible.

Simons has creativity and also can score goals. Last season he got 10 goals and 7 assists in 25 league appearances, whilst in 23/24 he got 8 goals and 11 assists in 32 league appearances. So that shows he has a eye or goal and can create too. Also his shooting from long range is very good. Palmer can do it here and there but Simons is the only one really, if he was to join who can hit rockets.

Never really seen much of him, remember our club now base's transfers on data which is a bit  ridiculous but does have a bit of merit. I can't see why wr would need so many forwards who all expect to start every game. Its not going to add to team spirit. When we played we were never happy when a big name joined us as it threatened our place in the team.

Nah Chelsea is the only club that want him.

Fuck knows why. Hes quick, beats players, then gives the ball away, or shoots into row Z or 10 yards wide. We've had enough of that type of player.
