Spurs have beaten United thrice in the season and have their CBs Romero and Van de Ven back fit. United are not favorites for me.

No Kulu-what’s his name, no Maddison, no Bergvall. That’s probably their best players all missing other than Son, right? I don’t think they have a chance even as shit as United are. Plus, it’s fucking Tottenham let’s be real. They’ll shit the bed in a high pressure final.

Enzo Maresca starting to have serious doubts about Nicolas Jackson’s Champions League credentials

https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/news/enzo-maresca-has-decided-32m-Chelsea-player-isnt-good-enough-for-champions-league-football/

Enzo Maresca was also disappointed with Jackson following his dismissal at St James Park, and it looks like the Chelsea manager has some concerns about the £32m striker.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Maresca does not think Jackson can lead Chelsea into the Champions League and help elevate them.

On Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, he said: “Jackson is appreciated by Chelsea for sure, but we have heard the reality is that the club, as well as Enzo Maresca, just do not see him as being the main striker to lead the club into the Champions League and elevate them, if they get it of course.”

Jackson is actually yet to play in the Champions League, and his lack of consistency and reckless sending off may be what ends up costing Chelsea a place in the competition.

He finishes the season with just 10 league goals after scoring 14 last term, going on a run of 13 games without finding the back of the net between January and April.

With Jackson suspended for Chelsea’s final two fixtures of the Premier League campaign, Maresca may have to use Tyrique George up front.

Chelsea could sign Jonathan David to support Nicolas Jackson

It has become quite obvious that Jackson needs some help, which is where Lille’s Jonathan David comes in.

In January, it was reported that David was eyeing a pre-contract agreement with another club, and the 25-year-old is now going to have to sign one if he wants to play football next season.

David has confirmed that he is leaving Lille on a free transfer when the campaign finishes, and Phillips has claimed in his Substack post that Chelsea are considering bringing him in.

You do realise Spurs bottle everything? Having Spurs in a final is akin to getting a bye.

Reminds me of my favourite Winston Churchill joke. When woken in the winter of 1944/45 to be informed about a brewing diplomatic incident involving a very senior officer in Paris, he replied:

Good god. It's 4am in the morning. The man is 70 years old. He's drunk as a skunk. He has been working night and day for five long years. It's six degrees below zero and the woman is a third of his age. Makes me proud to be British.

(From memory so not a quote but that's something like the gist.)

🙂 🙂 It's ludicrous how the smallest little knock on Tottenham Hotspur makes me chuckle for minutes on end.

I could play devil's advocate and say, we were a win off being top of the league in December to potentially missing out on CL football entirely. There are key components to building a balance squad that are missing - Reliable GK, WC CB, and WC WF/CF. Those three are effectively what won the title for Liverpool.

If I am to believe everything that is written, we won't be addressing any of those areas with the level of quality required. Estevao could potentially "take to water like a duck", but I highly doubt it given his age & physique.

Tbh if we have constrained budget (due to years of horrendous misspending) I would spend every penny on GK and 2 CBs and just try to get by with what we have otherwise, as grim as it would be

Arsenal (and various other clubs historically, including us) have shown you can do a fair bit with boring football and a good setup at the back

CF would be amazing but for me would be the one we could delay if we have no choice

Think we are a little conditioned to expect to have our cake and eat it too at this point we may have to just prioritise and try to get by

If we are to be anything, and I mean anything such as top four and even put a bit of a title fight we need a GK, CB, CM and CF as a minimum, end of.

Sanchez and Jorgensen bin them the fuck off, not good enough. Get a CB high quality to play next to Colwill, I'd like to say Chalobah but he's going and I rate him more than Colwill. We need cover for Lavia as he is injured more than a 90 year old and a CF and I mean a proper CF like Gyokares

Chelsea are very interested in Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

Sources have told that Chelsea will face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool for Wharton.

Palace’s strong negotiating position, bolstered by Wharton’s £55 million market value, means Chelsea would need to table a significant offer, potentially exceeding £60 million.

Last thing we need despite me really rating him. We’ve got Andrey Santos and that guy from Sporting we bought in January coming in to add to our already great midfield options. And £60m for Wharton I think Palace would laugh at and instantly tell anyone to piss off.

Discussing the latest on Chelsea’s search for a new striker, Phillips said: “One key area is striker, and SPTC Sources have heard this week that Chelsea are ‘still there’ for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

“The player has always been keen to join Chelsea regardless of Champions League football, and he is still keen now. The deal was worked on hard last summer, and the belief from our insiders is that his wage demands would not be as astronomical as the media are portraying.

“Chelsea can easily go back into the deal and our sources believe that it wouldn’t even be that difficult to come to an agreement.”

If we are going to Palace it should not be for Wharton, it should be Eze

Would Eze and Palmer fit together though?      And you would think Pep would be all over Eze to help fill the KDB void
