Haven't really followed him at PSG but he doesn't really seem like the type we need. Would hope that is just the typical scenario of an agent throwing our name out there to get attention on a player...

The club were looking at pretty traditional number 9s in summer (Samu, Duran, Osimhen, before that Sesko).

I have always been against us spending big on Osimhen (mainly against long contract on huge wages for someone that might flop in PL). Duran for a probably big fee from Villa is more interesting to me TBH (even after he just stamped on someone) but probably not a popular opinion!

I fear Kolo is exactly the type of player we'll sign as a "panic" buy just before the window shuts.

I believe any chance of signing Duran is long gone now unless you think spending £75m+ for him is smart business (I'd much rather go for Isak at that price if lack of PL experience puts you off Osimhen).

Assuming Duran would be much more amenable to a "Chelsea special" (very long term deal on cheap base wages with the rest based on performance) then yeah I would take him over Isak or Osimhen, given we have NJ already. But who knows what these players are really up for.

Aren't the days of exploiting loopholes long gone?

Whatever the case may be, some meaningful competition for NJ is required. I've had enough of his position going uncontested for one reason or another, and that's no reflection on his performances during his time here, despite the fact that my feelings being well known.

NUFC want 150m+ quid for Isak

I see very little chance they would take less than £130m or so

pass on Kolo Muani, btw

with Lautaro having a meh year

you could make a case that Isak or Gyökeres (who turns 27 in just 5 months) is the 2nd best under 30yo striker atm after Håland (Kane and the ageless Lewa are still in the top 5 to 7 overall)

the only others remotely in discussion at that level (or nearly there) are Julián Alvarez and Victor Osimhen

Samu, Sesko, and Duran still need to show a couple more seasons to get there I would say

Marcus Thuram turns 28yo this summer and no chance Inter will sell him with Lautaro struggling, IMHO

wild card is Omar Marmoush

wild wild card is Delap

João Pedro, Matheus Cunha, and Victor Boniface would be expensive dice rolls

still not sold on Hugo Ekitiké, and Watkins is too old (turns 30yo mid-seaons next) for what Villa would demand

Jonathan David would come on a free, so I am fine with that

𝙏𝙍𝘼𝙉𝙎𝙁𝙀𝙍 𝙉𝙀𝙒𝙎: Chelsea are eyeing both Liam Delap and Evan Ferguson as potential new striker options.

I think the scouting team has earned some trust. The strikers they wanted in the summer were Duran, Isak, Samu (scoring a lot in Portugal), Gyokeres, Osimhen but only on a fair deal.

I'd be interested in a 2nd striker who presses like Jackson and can play on his own up front

I definitely trust them if they choose Delap. He looks like someone who can be coached into a top striker.

BREAKING: Aaron Anselmino will join the Chelsea squad early and will be at Cobham on the 3rd of January.

Anselmino looks VERY promising. But I’m skeptical that he’s going to see much playing time this season. I think this is Maresca and the club wanting him to start training with the big boys for the second half of the season and getting him up to speed for next year. Nice little head start.
