Rice's move to Arsenal set the precedent this summer. Bc our mindset is still a few years back. 100m for players like Caicedo is the new normal. The market is inflating and with Saudi coming in its only going to be worse. 100m for someone like Caicedo will be considered cheap in 5 years. The long term starting pairing will *crosses fingers* be Enzo + Caicedo. Then we have THREE quality teenagers in Andrey, Casadei, and now Ugochukwu who play in CM/DM. It’s already going to be an issue finding space for all these guys. So adding Adams who is still just 24 makes things even more of a headache in the long term. For this season specifically where we can use his PL experience it makes sense, I suppose. But what happens if Casadei and Ugo have extremely impressive loans and Andrey really impresses while staying here? We’ll have loads of midfielders then who all are good enough to be playing regularly and not enough minutes to go around. There will be tough competition in midfield. The ones that prevail will play, the others will get sold with a profit. Win win

It's still hard to swallow for those that have been following the league for an age (me included), but we have to get with the times or be left behind. Thats why I actually support the club buying so many youngsters at a relatively low prize. Even if they dont turn out as the real deal, u can still sell them with a profit, bc the overall market will inflate over the next few years and if they turn out great u saved a lot of money and u dont have to deal with clubs like Brighton or Inter who love to squeeze u for every pound possible and let u wait till deadline day. mkh

Magic Lamps 11,692
Have seen nothing yet. 2+ months would indicate some form of invasive treatment usually. Woudl absolutely wreck our season cos we would essentially play another system without him and then learn a new one with him mid season

I agree to an extent. It's a good model in theory, but I hope we just don't go down the same path as before by having youngsters on our books till their mid twenties. If someone doesn't show enough within 24 months, we should be looking to get shot regardless of how it will affect us financially.

Even Poch said he doesn't want squad to be too bloated. Let's say (and again, it is what I originally stated that my 4 buys were predicated up) we DO sell Trevoh and CuCu. As stated stated, Fofana is likely out for the season. (I will add that I think he is perma fucked or damn near it) So, assuming all that (which I DID posit in my first post) I do not think 4 CBs total is enough. Badi is out atm. Thiago is 39 in September and cant play ever game. So if we played a back 3 (with Thiago playing) right now we have no true CBs at all for subs. Bashir Humphreys is being loaned out. Given our injury record and Thiago's age, IF we did sell CuCu (who is NOT a viable CB btw, that is plain for all to see) AND Trevoh, I think we should replace ONE of those 2. Gundalf 806
If its 2 months, he would only miss 7 games, 6 of which against opponents that a Chelsea team should be able to beat without him.

Probably RJ and and Chily will hit the wall some time in autumn as well and we will be left with a squad worse than last season’s. Can’t blame the medical staff for the sunk cost perma cripple fofana or the Ed sheeran Quagmire but as the season goes on our Foo fighter doctors will surely play their part. I think it is a marketing buy, just like Pulisic was. Thar said, I am not going to lose my mond over it. If he was a creative hybrid CMF/AMF like Gabri Viega, then sure, no problems (if a low price) but he is not that type if player.
