Enzo, Caicedo and Lavia with all these youngsters in the background would set us pretty nicely for years to come.

It never works like that. If things were so linear Arsenal would have dominated once Cesc, Nasri, RVP etc matured.

Not only that teams need constant refreshing to avoid going stale, even young ones. Case in point, look at City's current best lineup and compare it to their centurions.

I would’ve been super down and depressed a year ago about Gvardiol going to City after we got so close to buying him. But now that we’ve got two 20 year old left footed CB’s with sky high potential and a perfect coach to help them reach that potential I don’t care at all.

Colwill in particular can become one of the best CB’s in the world.

It's just a shame that Gvardiol - Dias - Ake/Stones is miles ahead of Colwill - Badiashile - Fofana.    That Fofana transfer fee will go down in history as one of the worst PL transfers.

don't bother me, tbh

I have my doubs that he will improve city squad, tbh

Kova is a player we should have 0 regrets about. We got him when we needed legs desperately and for a reasonable price. He gave us his absolute prime years. And now we essentially get a refund.
The only one who should have regrets is kova himself bc he never built any momentum to become the player he should have despite getting all the chances here.
He is still very similar to the player he was at 21. Never got consistently world class at anything other than dribbling and close control even though he had all the tools in terms of natural technical talent.

While every single major departure is reasonable on its own and not worth shedding any tears about what is worrying is the overall trend. Mount, Havertz, kova all were here long enough, loved by the fans that one would have been forgiven for presuming they had built a special bond with the club. The bond the Lampard, JT, Drogs, Cech generation had. The bond even late joiners like Cesc, Giroud and Ballack referred to. The bond that made them stay even when times were stormy and the club under fire from all sides.
Maybe it’s just circumstantial, individual decisions coming together or a generational thing. However, it could very well also be that Boehly and the other duds already changed so much that not only has the club been missing that ruthless winners mentality since but also that familiar supportive atmosphere of the previous era.
