Were Morocco tactically naive on their way to the WC semis 6 months ago?

I made a brief mention of the problems that, in general, affect African football. Whether it was your intention or not, the way you phrased your post lumped all people from Africa together, which is incorrect on so many ways. The dearth of the best coaching available to players on the continent itself may cause them to play at World Cups with less tactical awareness than the majority of SA nations, which have players who mostly compete in Europe's top leagues.

Once again, Africans as a whole don't inherently lack tactical awareness; those still playing on the continent or who moved to Europe relatively late in footballing terms (23+) might have those issues, but Africans that were either born in Europe (most of the Morocco squad in Qatar) or individuals like Ndidi, Salah, or Mane who came early on in their careers don't lack it.

This misconception needs to be banished.

Edit - Nice change to your post. I'm not going to go round in circles.

I merely asked you not to put words in my mouth, which you certainly did. It's fucking pretty annoying tbh.

I've been watching World Cups for decades, and I will stick to my opinion. Morocco was indeed the most tactically disciplined African nation I've ever seen. Perhaps Cameroon came close before, with Milla, but that was more of a counter-attacking side. Those were the glaring exceptions, I'm afraid. Now, like I said, this is all acquired knowledge, so there is certainly evolution, just not as fast as was once predicted. The moment that's not the case anymore, then it's not the case, again IMO. 🤷‍♂️

Winning can definitely speed up that evolution tenfold...

What do you think would happen if Mbappe's family had moved to the USA instead of France? do you really think he'd be what he is today? This is the example to emphasize the point. I'd go further and suggest Mbappe also wouldn't be what he is today had his family moved to Mexico, despite football being the main sport there.

Am I the only person that doesn't understand supporting two teams?

I don't get it.

I live in Stockholm now, and my father's fam (Swedish) has always been AIK

I was born and raised in London, west London, and grew up Chels

AIK is a streets below Chels, basically zero overlap

and the seasons are different

many on here have local, non English smaller teams they follow

it isn't rocket science

How the fuck can Boehly still sell his project to players after this season

You have to be the most negative person on here lol...

You can't just spend, spend, spend - because I've seen you react poorly whether we overpay or don't buy.

The quick to anger ones on here really don't want to give this team/organisation time to set a new path. Just because stop gaps and a method worked before, doesn't mean it was the most effective. Sometimes 10 steps back before you can launch and start to run.

I'd be happy with this.

Reality is - players like Mount aren't a precious commodity in my opinion. He isn't a physical presence, nor overly technical, or rather pacey. Just a motor in the middle with some nice skills.

I am in two minds on Havertz though. A lot of people underrate him - and fault him for things he is actually quite good at - like hold up play and seeing the field. He uses his body well and knows how to pick a pass/man. I really think he'd be a fantastic player in a well established team with a nice offensive scheme in place. Wouldn't want him to go to a direct rival because of this.

I'm not negative, just curious how does Boehly still convince sell his project to top players, it's not like were paying them top dollar and most now is through incentives.

porto need to sel they are in talks with united

if united get onana, I really see us getting him for 50M euros

Think club is targeting a senior GK not a young GK keeping Slonina in mind.

Growing up in London our second team were always Brentford (Div4 in those days), and when Chels were away we used to go to Craven Cottage alternate Saturdays, not that we supported Fulham but they had George Best.

Me it was Millwall, when Chelsea were away.

Most of me mates supported them.
