You forgot about Bakayoko, Baba Rahman and Dujon Sterling.

Also there are Bashir Humphreys, Omari Hutchinson and Harvey Vale who all made debut for senor team.

Also you have to do something with higher rated youngsters like Charlie Webster, Burstow, and Cesare Casadei.

There are 41 on the books? 😬There is a lot of work in the summer.

I agree with most of the 20 picked to sell. Would keep Broja around in a Nketiah-type 2nd option role. And find a way to replace one of Mendy/Kepa with an upgrade keeper.

Broja is a tricky one. After 6-9 months out with an ACL injury he needs regular games to get back to his best, and at this point it's still a question mark if even his best is good enough.

That's why I would loan him out for the season and then look at his situation again in 2024. If he has a good season out on loan we can either bring him back for 24/25 or sell him once his value has recovered a bit from the drop off caused by the bad injury. And if his loan season is bad then he's not going to be good enough for us anyway. I'm pretty sure I read a few days ago that Sporting Lisbon would like Broja on loan, something like that would be good IMO.

As for the goalkeepers yeah I agree something could be done there but for me it's way down on the list of priorities for the summer. If there's sufficient interest in one or both of Kepa/Mendy then we should sell and look for another option but I don't think it would be a disaster to postpone any GK decisions into next year.

CIES Football Observatory

n°419

World ranking of the 200 most promising youngsters

https://www.football-observatory.com/IMG/sites/b5wp/2022/wp419/en/

Issue 419 of the CIES Football Observatory Weekly Post lists the 200 U20 players in 75 leagues around the world (20 in each of the ten positions considered) who have accumulated the most official game experience during last year. The highest score overall was recorded for Barcelona’s prodigy Gavi, whose relative experience capital is 4.37 times higher than the average measured for players of the same age and position.

The top players by position are Plamen Andreev (Levski Sofia, goalkeeper), António Silva (Benfica, centre back), Alejandro Balde (Barcelona, left back), Rico Lewis (Manchester City, right back), Arthur Vermeeren (Royal Antwerp, defensive midfielder), Pablo Gavi (Barcelona, central midfielder), Bilal El Khannouss (KRC Genk, attacking midfielder), Matheus Martins (Watford, left winger), Ângelo Gabriel (Santos, right winger) and Marcos Leonardo (Santos, centre-forward)

The ranking was established according to the experience capital method, taking into account the minutes played in official games during the last 365 days, the sporting level of the matches and the results. Furthermore, the experience capital was related to the average measured for players of the same age and position, which allows us to present a relative score as mentioned above.

Kovacic next club will be Bayern or PSG. He and his wife are always after nice new cities, new countries... After Milano, Madrid and London that will come naturally. Even tho they want him no chance for Manchester teams for this reason.

FW: Havertz, Nkunku, D. Fofana, Aubameyang, Broja, Lukaku

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That makes it 41 players when counting all of our current squad, returning loanees and the arrivals of Nkunku and Gusto in the summer. We'll almost certainly be adding another striker as well as a new DM which would take the list up to a ridiculous 43 players.

Now that it's confirmed we won't be having European football for next season I would say the optimal squad size for a season of only EPL + domestic cups is around 23-24 first team players so as things stand there's around 19-20 players too many.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's my list of players who we should be looking to get rid:

  • Slonina (loan out)
  • Cucurella / Maatsen, keep one sell one
  • Koulibaly / Chalobah, keep one sell one
  • Sarr
  • Ampadu
  • Azpi
  • Kovacic / RLC, keep one sell one
  • Mount / Gallagher, keep one sell one
  • Zakaria (loan expiring)
  • Hall (loan out)
  • Santos (loan out)
  • Chukwuemeka (loan out)
  • Ziyech
  • Pulisic
  • CHO
  • Aubameyang
  • Felix (loan expiring)
  • D. Fofana (loan out)
  • Broja (loan out)
  • Lukaku

That's 20 players. Probably won't be successful in offloading everyone from the list but at least 16-17 departures should be a realistic target, considering many on the list are promising youngsters who we'd be loaning out to lesser clubs for their development on the cheap.

Of the 'multiple choice' options I'd ideally look to keep Maatsen, Chalobah, Kovacic and Mount but I'll take anything as long as at least one of each category leaves. Lukaku, Aubameyang, Ziyech, Pulisic and sadly Azpilicueta are the ones who absolutely have to go.

Going to be a very busy summer at the club office. 😂

With a squad below:

------------------------- Kepa --------------------------------

Gusto --------Colwill/Badishielle ------ Fofana ------- Chillwell

--------- James/Kante -------- ------- Enzo ------------------

Maduake -------------- Havertz ----------------------Mudryk

                                Nkunku

We should not be close to relegation and play some pretty nice football. Get a proper number 9 in and even more fun.

Chelsea star tells Boehly he wants out with Tuchel primed to complete stunning cut-price raid

https://www.teamtalk.com/Chelsea/star-tells-boehly-he-wants-out-with-tuchel-primed-to-complete-stunning-cut-price-raid-Chelsea

Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic

Mateo Kovacic wants to leave Chelsea this summer and reunite with former manager Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich, according to reports.

The 28-year-old has made just 15 starts in the Premier League this term, despite being a key player under the German coach during his time at Stamford Bridge.

With Chelsea tipped to axe a number of players to balance the books at the end of the season, it seems likely Kovacic will be one of the stars to leave.

The Croatia international’s contract with the Blues is set to expire in June 2024. As a result, Bayern could sign him on a cut-price deal this summer.

Indeed, as revealed by TEAMtalk, Kovacic and Chelsea are currently in talks over a new deal. However, the club’s hierarchy have told the player if he fails to pen an extension soon, he will be sold.

His departure would arguably come as a blow to Chelsea. Since joining the club in 2019, the Croatian has made 218 appearances overall, scoring six goals and making 14 assists.

In that time, he helped the Blues to win a Europa League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup – all but one of these trophies coming under Tuchel.

Kovacic demands Chelsea exit

According to German outlet Sport1Kovacic is trying to force a move away from Chelsea. This suggests that talks over a new contract have now come to a halt.

They add that the Blues would prefer to sell the midfielder to a team outside of the Premier League. Now, Tuchel is thought to be considering a summer swoop for his former player.

While his appearances have been intermittent at Chelsea this season, there is no doubt that Kovacic is still a top player.

As mentioned, though, Kovacic may not be the only player that the London club look to offload this summer.

Indeed, it’s believed that club owner Todd Boehly could look to axe as many as 15 players. This is to offset the £600m he has spent on new signings this season.

Kovacic is reportedly joined by Edouard Mendy, Cesar Azpilicueta, Trevoh Chalobah, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount and eight others on Boehly’s hit list.

Pochettino wants to keep one Chelsea player ‘above all’ as he ‘gives approval’ for first signing

https://www.football365.com/news/pochettino-keep-Chelsea-pulisic-above-all-approval-onana-first-signing

Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic at the club, according to reports, amid speculation the American could leave in the summer.

A report on Wednesday claimed that Pochettino had struck a ‘verbal agreement’ with the Blues to become their new manager at the end of the season.

Chelsea are currently on their third manager of the campaign with caretaker manager Frank Lampard replacing Graham Potter – who left Brighton in September to take over from Thomas Tuchel – after he only won 12 of his 31 matches in charge.

Lampard has lost all five of his matches at the helm and some pundits are suggesting that Chelsea should move the appointment of Pochettino forward.

And Pochettino is already planning for the future with Italian website Calciomercato (via Sport Witness) claiming that the Argentine ‘wants to keep some players’ that other managers were ready to discard.

It is understood that Pochettino wants ‘above all Christian Pulisic’ to stay with him at Stamford Bridge with AC Milan and Real Madrid both linked to the USA international, who has never lived up to his £58m transfer fee.

And, as well as highlighting some of the players he wants to keep at Chelsea, Pochettino has ‘already given his approval’ for his first signing with the former Tottenham boss happy for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana to join.

A deal for Pochettino now seems all but confirmed and CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs brought us a detailed update this week.

Jacobs wrote in his Caught Offside column: “Mauricio Pochettino is in advanced talks to replace Graham Potter at Chelsea. Things are moving fast and as of Monday evening final negotiations were underway. It wasn’t quite a done deal as of Monday night, and Chelsea hadn’t issued any kind of contract, but there was real confidence from both sides a deal was close.

“Things could well progress very quickly now over the coming days, and Pochettino is expected to be joined by his assistant Jesus Perez and his son, Sebastino, who is a sports scientist.

“Chelsea have considered Pochettino multiple times, both under Roman Abramovich and Clearlake-Boehly. Pochettino was a candidate after Thomas Tuchel was sacked in September, but Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali decided to hire Potter instead.

“Plus, Pochettino was not entirely sold on the project back then. This was due to not wanting to rush straight back into work following his PSG exit, and there being less structure at Chelsea.

“Fans may say things are worse now, and that’s true on the field in terms of Chelsea’s season, but remember back then Chelsea didn’t have a recruitment team and the owners and board were basically brand new.

“Now Pochettino has had time to see Chelsea develop and understand the long-term plan. The timing just feels better for Pochettino, and next season can be a bit of a clean slate.”

Jacobs added: “There have also already been talks about summer outgoings and Pochettino’s desire to keep Mount Mason, which is shared by the ownership despite very firm interest from Liverpool.

“With Pochettino, as of Monday night, getting really close and things expected to progress over the next 48 hours, Chelsea can soon start to plan for next season. Of course for much of the hiring process Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique were both considered strong contenders, yet Chelsea sources always stressed it was an open race to replace Potter.

“Julian Nagelsmann was never the preferred candidate and the story behind his withdrawal has two sides. Those close to the ex-Bayern boss say he wasn’t sold on the vision having received what is termed an ‘inconsistent’ picture of it during talks.

“They also stress the hiring process wasn’t structured as Nagelsmann had hoped, which can be taken as code for he thought the job was his.

“Chelsea sources paint a slightly different picture, emphasising Nagelsmann wasn’t prepared to go through what has repeatedly been termed an ‘exhaustive process’.

“The 35-year-old wanted a managerial coronation not a process. It’s also been made clear Chelsea never made Nagelsmann any promises he was their top choice, and that actually due diligence on him provided mixed (and even some negative) feedback.”

roflmaooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Reports have claimed that Barcelona now may be secretly open to selling Raphinha to Chelsea this summer.

According to AS, the La Liga side may be willing to sacrifice the Brazil international if it allows them to trigger a deal to resign Lionel Messi from PSG.

Raphinha was a key target for the Blues last summer while Thomas Tuchel was in charge of the club.

FUCK OFF
