3 years??!!!!????

wtf

he will be 36 years old when it expires

Mad, isn’t it? That’s probably the only way to convince him to leave Barca. He wanted the extra longer term security.

I’d be stunned if he sees out all 3 years of his contract if this deal indeed happens. Really, unless he absolutely crushes it in his first season here I doubt he even comes back for a second one. We’ll bin him off to Galatasaray or Besiktas who love an old, past it star player.

Report we are doubling his 9m salary at Barca. So 18m per year.

I think we are only doubling compared to the lower initial salary he got in his first years so will about match what he would get there from this season on

Arsenal got rid of washed up players like Aubemayang and are integrating more of their youth players to play winning football.

For some reason we are choosing to go the opposite direction with regards to players. Starting to reek of short-termism.

Also, this isn't like how we once got Giroud from Arsenal. Giroud was signed as a pure squad option, namely to give us a target-man. His attitude was top notch and we benefitted from it.

Tbf, we’re still superior to Arse at every position on the pitch other than striker.  I wouldn’t swap a single one of their best XI for one of ours. And our squad is much better as well.

It’s definitely true that this Auba deal is questionable but there just aren’t many options out there.

I was going to state otherwise, but @Vesper has done so. There are PLENTY of options, just a lack of top-quality options (Lukaku was supposedly in the bracket).

RW

Saka is streets ahead of any actual right winger we can toss out
