Well Perisic and Bissouma have already gone to Spurs. So that's already happened, lol.

Well maybe not confirmed yet for Bissouma, but anyway

And Tchou to Real, Boubacar Kamara to Villa on a free, plus Rüdiger did not wait, pulled the trigger, and left.

Arse are on the brink of signing some dude from Porto out of nowhere. Not a single link or rumor until he’s just about to sign.

I’m hoping that’s what’s going on with us. That we’re just keeping things ultra quiet. But even if we were keeping the ship tight you’d expect the most reliable Chelsea insiders like Law and Ornstein to report things. We’ve heard nothing from either in regards to incomings.

This was well under the radar.

Hopefully ours are the same.

When they do regularly report on something it's because its essentially far enough down the road that it will happen.

No reliable Arsenal reporters mentioned this Porto player for them, and it's not a deal which would simply be done just today.

how not?

we won 2 champions league in the last 10 years

The only 'best in the world at his position when we bought him' player was Ashley Cole.

Lampard developed into the best AMF by far on the planet whilst here, he was far from WC when we bought him, and we had another who did the same, but the stupid AF board sold him with no buyback.

John Terry maybe had a brief spell where he was the best CB on the planet (that is debatable), but he was an academy player.

That's it. We simply cannot compete for the (in their prime) CR7, Messi, Mbappe, Kimmich, Lewa, etc types. It isn't happening anytime soon, if ever. That is totally oki for me. I do not like the Galactico philosophy. We have proven now you can win it all without it.

I DO DO DO DO insist that the new super stadium be built ASAP. That IS hurting us with 'non best in planet but still WC' recruiting.

players like neymar, mbappé, ronaldo's ,messi's, etc...just real madrid or barcelona can afford him

even united or liverpool don't buy world class players from other world class teams (I mean, Bayern, Real or Barça)

only if they wan't to sell him (Varane, for example)

United

Pogba (Juventus)

Maguire (Leicester)

Sancho (Dortmund)

Lukaku (Everton)

Di Maria (Real, but they want to sell him)

Fernandes (SCP)

Martial (Monaco)

Fred (Shakthar)

Bissaka (Palace)

Ferdinand (Leeds)

Mata (Chelsea but Mou want to sell him)

Matic (Chelsea)

Mkhitaryan (Dortmund)

Varane (Real - Injury prone)

Van de Beek (Ajax)

Berbatov (Tottenham)

Bailly (villarreal)

Shaw (saints)

https://www.transfermarkt.com/manchester-united/transferrekorde/verein/985/page/2

Only Sanchez (Arsenal) (but he demanded a huge wage), Matic (Chelsea) and Pogba (Juventus) are the only 3 players that United buy from others top teams in "normal" condition

rest of players are from great teams but not world class teams

even liverpool top transfers are alisson (ROMA) and van dijk (Saints) and now darwin (Benfica) and even Keita (Germany)

the only teams that buy with regularity world class players from other world class teams are Real (Ronaldo, Beckham, Kaka, Xabi Alonso, Zidane, etc) and maybe Barça

Yep, I would probably argue there were three players really at their peak who were anything in or around the "world class" bracket that we've signed and were a success and they were Ashley Cole, Makelele and Ballack.

Hazard would fall into the bracket of the absolutely best young players who everybody seemed to desire.

Besides that our best players have become top players here. It is always the way I would champion. Anytime we've gone for a 'superstar' glamour signing we've fallen flat on our face. Lukaku is now joining Torres and Sheva in expensive indulgent strikers who we've overpaid for and to and are now stuck trying to deal with for seasons to come.

Having said that transfer prices are becoming so ridiculous now that even a basic standard player is £20m, potential is minimum £40m and too many players are being bracketed into a price range that they don't justify.

I know Madrid still have a tendency to like the big name signing but they have changed tact quite a bit in recent seasons. Mbappe would have been an eye watering deal but still has his best years in front of him, it's only really Hazard in recent seasons that they've bought as a bit of a glamour buy and I think the experience of him and Bale recently probably puts them off buying older 'stars'.

They've invested a lot of money in younger players like Valverde, Camavinga, Vini who have been able to grow and develop underneath established names and are now primed to take front foot roles in the side.

They've also exploited opportunities with players contracts running down or out with the likes of Courtois, Rudiger and Alaba, and very nearly Mbappe.

You forget

PSG and Citeh

only teams to take in both Barca and Real lately for best (or at least a top 3 best) player and win, once straight off a roster, Barca with Neymar.

Madrid are very well run clubs, won 5 CLs in the last decade.

Makelele and Ballack

I can see a case for Makélélé, he also is not really an example of what I meant, as he turned 31yo a few months after we bought him, and his age (stupidly for Real as it turned out) was the main reason we got him.

Ballack (30yo basically when we bought him, he turned 30 several weeks into the first season here) was sorta similar, and whist he was still a beast, he never came close to his prime Neverkusen and Bayern numbers with us. He certainly was not the best AMF/CMF on the planet (although still absolutely WC, I loved the signing and the player) when we bought him (Makélélé was DEFFO the best DMF on the planet, but it was not a competition for his sig between us and the 2 Spanish big twatters, because, as I stated above, Real stupidly thought him to old to sign a long term extension (massive mistake, it cost them dearly, and to our benefit.)

They are both very comparable to the signings of Sheva and Lukaku though because of their respective ages there was never going to be a resale value with them.

There have been a lot of players that other clubs have spent fortunes buying who are in the 27-28 year old bracket or older (Hazard as prime example for Madrid) and taking those risks.

I don't like that, because the risk is just so bloody extreme if it goes wrong like we're seeing now with Lukaku.

Hazard too.

That's the kind of signing I'd like for us to make again.

And DeBruyne. And Salah.

How can you agree with a player on stuff that involves owners when we didn't have an owner?

why would you need an owner

you can have an agreement between a player/players agent and the buyer clubs representative with some sort of ultimatum. lets say if a club doesnt have an owner and everything sorted out until june 15th then deal is off. just an example...

its not like our whole club changed and we are starting from 0. if thats the case is a bit amateurish. but even then you have scouts who should already have a list of players who we should buy...
