do you realise what over a quarter of a billion euros (between Sancho, Håland plus the smaller sales they have already done) can do IN THIS market, this once in multiple decades market?

they can buy up players for pennies on the pound

radically transform the team and its depth and youth for a decade plus via the synergistic knock-on effects

they lose Håaland next year anyway, and for a sheload less dosh

and I so doubt the market will be as low priced as now

He does, but if we can’t get a top of the line, marquee striker than I’d rather us get a cheap stopgap than spending 50m or something on a mid level guy who might be a bust and we’re stuck with them when Haaland is available next summer.

If we can get someone in the £25-30m range this summer who may not be spectacular but is effective and can score the easy chances we create that’ll have to do. Then that striker can become our backup striker next season.

Or perhaps the plan is to just stick with Tammy and Kai. Which…..wouldn’t be good.

The fee difference may be bigger but you're talking about a club who have a history of holding onto a player for one more season and then either selling them at a cheaper price (e.g. Sancho) or letting them go for free (e.g. Lewandowski). Dortmund might be a selling side but they also still have interest in being competitive. If Dortmund are really concerned about getting less money next year, they would not have said all year that Haaland is not for sale this summer and they are also not under any financial pressure to sell. So, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion to just say they will accept our offer immediately. More importantly, we gotta actually table the bid in if we want to make it happen because right now, nothing seems to be actually happening and it's all just empty talk after empty talk after empty talk. And oh, there are also tons of recycled BS.

I agree with your general sentiment, but with Sancho and Lewandowski they came out straight away saying that they are not going to leave, which they are explicitly not doing with Haaland. Also they are definitely under pressure to sell, because it is very hard to burn 100m of fee in a year, when you have shareholders to answer to.

Zorc just came out and said it today. I did not keep track of their previous comments and am sure they have also said it some time this year. And the media, including the German, have also been reporting Dortmund have no intention to sell this summer. So am mostly just going by that.

It's been €150m (not pounds) for ages, now all of sudden it is going up? Not buying it. I have been all over this, and I am by far the FOREX conversation stickler on here since I joined, so it is not me making a conversion. His release clause has been quoted as between 65 and 75m euros. If is the lower, then €175m is only 20m away from being TRIPLE that. 150m euros is double the higher quote of €75m, which if fair.

IF the price they demand IS truly €175m, (and you know add-ons are not included in that) and IF that cunt Raiola insists on a 3 years or so and out escape hatch, then FUCK THE DEAL.

FUCK HÅLAND, as IF those are the conditions and price, he is NOT worth it. I draw lines in sand.

I think it depends on the seller but paying transfers in installments is quite common for big money moves, I believe. United, for example, will be paying the Sancho transfer fee in installments.

Different case though if they have a release clause. That I believe the buyer will have to pay the money upfront immediately.

Well, can't blame the seller if they want to milk more money out of us.

Either way, the potential transfer is gonna cost a lot of money. I feel like it's either we buy Haaland and no one else or don't buy Haaland and buy others. And by "no one else" and "others", I mean getting players in other positions.
