Chelsea Transfers

The board have identified two solid targets in Hakimi and Haaland. It doesn't mean we will get Haaland over the line this summer but we will be in pole position next year if we don't. We need GK2 and GK3, as well as CF2 and a CM and MAYBE a CB. LF2 if Alonso is used to get Hakimi or CB if Christensen goes.

You're still not answering the question, KK. 😭

Haven't I? I thought the question was why I was so confident about it? If the question, is what if the PSG rumours are true, then firstly, that is a hypothetical, secondly, then it means I am wrong.

Sorry if I am being slow, it has been a long day!

Chelsea close to first summer transfer after days of contact with £55.8m star's agent

https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/transfer-news/report-Chelsea-close-to-first-summer-transfer-after-days-of-contact-with-55-8m-stars-agent/

Chelsea are on verge of completing their first transfer deal this summer after days of talks with Inter Milan star Achraf Hakimi’s representative, according to Calciomercato.

As widely reported before, the Italian outlet claims that Hakimi’s transfer saga is a two-horse race between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

While many would think that a transfer of such scale would take some time, Inter’s financial situation means a deal could be struck in the next 10 days.

The Serie A champions will reportedly have to sell one of their stars and balance their accounts by June 30.

At the moment, Hakimi seems to be the closest to leaving Inter, the report added.

Calciomercato claims that Chelsea have “gained a considerable advantage” over PSG and are “close to the finish line” after several days of contacts with Hakimi’s agent.

The Blues have reportedly tabled an offer of €60million (£51.5m)plus one of either Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmieri, or Andras Christensen for Hakimi.

Alonso is the one Inter are reportedly focusing. The report further added that their new manager Simone Inzaghi has even given the green light for the 30-year-old as he sees him as an “ideal” player.

I hope it is either Zappa or Emerson, Alonso is handy and losing AC would just be pure madness.

Alonso been a decent player for us but is 30 now and this might be the only way we can move him on.

But why do we want to move him on? He is a handy player for certain situations. I would say all the following players need to go before him:

Emerson

Zappa

Barkley

RLC

Baba

Drinky

Baka

Batsh*t

Kepa

While there are also arguments that the following are also less useful:

Giroud

Zouma

Tammy

For me, if we plan on having a LWB2 he is by far and away the best we're going to have as we are not going out and getting a Gosens for instance.

Only way it makes sense is if the plan is to have Hakimi as RWB1 and LWB2.

The initial question I asked was this

But what if the Hakimi-PSG stories were true? What if he really does prefer PSG?

If Inter really do need the cash by the 30th June, this will be done shortly. I'd imagine both Chelea and PSG will offer something similar i.e. something in and around €65-€75m (of equivalent with players) and then have then leave it with them and allow time to do its business. I mean what is their other solution?

Any Italian speaking fans in here, or Italian based.   Just to give us an idea for the Italian media, can someone sum up whether the following are reliable, or pretty poor

Corriere delo sport,  Gazetta delo sport, tuttosport, mediaset... Pedulla, Di marzio.   obviously we know di marzio is decent

I actually think we'll get him. I mean, we're actually a much better fit for him as we play a pretty pure 343/3421. Furthermore, if the Håland stuff is true, who do you want to be crossing into? Håland/Giroud/Havertz/Alonso (when he plays) or Neymar/Mbappe/Icardi? If he goes to PSG, he will have to pretty much play everything to feet.

Personally, I think the reason it is taking a while is that Inter are milking the offers. PSG are clearly interested so they'll ride us for all we're worth.

I just think PSG will slap 70m euros down and be done with it.  If Inter desperately need the cash, i think they'd prefer that to our offer of 60 plus Alonso.  Even though its perhaps better overall

Inter will not take (if cash only) 70m euros atm. It is €80m or bust. Think about what you just typed. You just valued Alonso at only £8.5m quid, which is madness if any team thinks they could buy him from us for that this summer. I would 1000% rather have him at backup LWB than Emerson anyday this coming season. Of course, I have been saying Gosens for last 2 years, and flush both of them.

Still am seething we turned down £45m for Marcos in 2018 (even worse was the £65m turndown for Willian). Fucking Sarri and some of the board.

I just hope we don't panic like we have form for if the main targets aren't secured.

I don't mind if we have a couple of top targets for example at centre back or centre midfield where there are potentially multiple options available.

But the wing back roles are more specialist, hence less quality supply and the striking options go from a couple of top end options, immediately down to risky punts.

If Hakimi doesn't join, then I don't want us buying a right wing back for the sake of it (Traore for example). We want to be giving ourselves the best possible opportunity to build the club up so the Champions League win wasn't just a one off but the start of something.

It's been mentioned that Chelsea and Tuchel this summer are looking at quality over quantity and I hope they live up to that.
