Buy them both, as combined they would cost what Bastoni or Marquinhos or De Ligt would alone, lolol. Sell Zouma FFS. Tomori is likely sold. Sarr is not good enough, but was free, so will generate funds no matter what. Thiago Silva leaves after June 2022. I am not yet sold on Guehi. Certainly not sold at all on Ampadu as a CB. Azpi will be done in a couple years or so. Mbuyamba is so not a guaranteed star yet, not at all. Plenty of room for both Lacroix and Botman. I like that solution but unfortunately we both know this is not gonna happen. The club is so prudently managed that we are unlikely to dish 30m out on a player who has just had 1 season in a first tier league. I personally think on this one it would be well worth the gamble. Lacroix tactical awareness, pace, height and stamina are characteristics that will help him make an impression anywhere. Moreover we are in a perfect position to make a gamble on a young defender like the uncapped Frenchman (read: he would have the summer to work with TT) or Botman. We have a settled core of CBs, so no risk signing an extraone, two of which are ageing so a genuine perspective to integrate a new prospect. We obviously woudl get him. Wolfsburg to RBL is literally almost the smallest step up you can make 4th to 2nd. They obviously can offer him being first XI but working with TT, Silva, Azpi should trump that everyday. Blooding in a new young cb next season is the perfect time with all those legendary defenders in our squad right now about to play a mammoth 60 games season. I do not see Tuchel letting Jorginho go, unless you hand him a Manuel Locatelli, Rúben Neves, Ismaël Bennacer, Bruno Guimarães, or Marcelo Brozovic type deep holder/regista (all of those would be an upgrade btw) who can soak up massive pressure (which Jorginho is sometimes insanely good at, but FAR too often fucks up and does something maddeningly stupid) or Rice, which at £80 to 90m, is not happening maybe Kalvin Phillips or Douglas Luiz, but good luck getting them for fair value, Leeds and Villa have ZERO reason to sell outside shot is that Tuchel sees Julian Weigl as a Jorginho replacement

Pep would NEVER sell us Laporte Varane, yes, absolutely, if we fail on Bastoni (I think we have no shot at Marquinhos, and Pep wants Bastoni so so bad, he likely will toss Laporte in on a swap + cash deal, which I think is stupid, as in theory, I think Laporte is still superb,, and they would have 3 of the top 6, 7, or 8 CBs on the planet of they bring in Bastoni and keep Laporte) My top 10 CB's atm (not for targets, but overall) Rúben Dias Virgil van Dijk (unless his knee is perma-fucked) Alessandro Bastoni Matthijs de Ligt Marquinhos Raphaël Varane Aymeric Laporte José María Giménez Kalidou Koulibaly Milan Skriniar Thomas Strakosha https://thelaziali.com/2021/05/14/strakosha-will-start-one-more-game-for-lazio-ahead-of-probable-summer-move/

I think Brozovic is too old and I don't rate Kalvin Phillips, Bennacer or Douglas Luiz. All three are guilty of letting the game pass them by too often. Weigl would probably the closest to a 1 for 1 Jorginho replacement but I actually don't want a 1 for 1 replacement. What Jorginho does is simply not enough. The ideal player to take his place would be someone who has the same composure, passing and tempo control ability and tactical discipline but is less error prone, physically stronger, better tackler, can play line breaking balls from deep and also can roam from box to box if necessary to support the attack. That player probably does not exist but I think Locatelli and Rice come closest. I have not seen enough of Tchouameni but whilst some liken him to Bakayoko some say he is exactly what we need. Vesper 30,162
Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski speaks out on his future amid Chelsea transfer speculation https://metro.co.uk/2021/05/31/robert-lewandowski-speaks-out-on-bayern-munich-future-amid-Chelsea-transfer-speculation-14679244/ Robert Lewandowski has refused to rule out a move away from Bayern Munich this summer, admitting he’s ‘open minded’ about the future and keen to experience ‘new cultures’. The 32-year-old had yet another phenomenal season in front of goal for Bayern, netting 41 times in 29 appearances to break Gerd Muller’s 49-year-old Bundesliga scoring record for a single campaign in the German top flight. However, there has been speculation surrounding Lewandowski’s future with Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid all said to be weighing up big-money moves for the Poland sensation, despite the fact he still has two years remaining on his current deal at the Allianz Arena. A recent report from Sky Sport Germany suggested Chelsea had already opened talks over a possible deal for Lewandowski as Thomas Tuchel looks to strengthen his Champions League-winning squad with the addition of a top-class centre-forward. And while Bayern are insistent Lewandowski will be going nowhere during the close season, the striker did little to dampen speculation that he could be set to switch clubs during an interview with Canal+ on Sunday. ‘I remain open minded. I feel very good at Bayern, the city is superb, it’s a great club,’ he told the French TV channel. ‘I am always curious to learn a new language, a new culture. But whether it will be in football or after my career, even I don’t know.’ Lewandowski broke Muller’s long-standing Bundesliga record in the last minute of Bayern’s final match against Augsburg and the forward even surprised himself with his incredible feat, especially as he was sidelined for most of April. ‘I am not obsessed with records. When I take on new challenges, I try to do what no one has ever done because it pushes me to move forward,’ the Poland international added. ‘For me if you do something you love, you can achieve goals you thought were impossible. ‘To be honest, I thought no player could come close to that record, especially since I didn’t play for several matches. I was injured for part of the season.
Jase 43,479
The Athletic on our transfer plans... https://theathletic.com/2623498/2021/06/01/chelseas-summer-transfers-lukaku-hakimi-rice-options-as-tuchel-chases-a-few-top-class-players/ Summary: - Dortmund have ruled out a sale for Haaland, despite Chelsea having made efforts to improve relations with Raiola - Dortmund are prepared to sell Sancho but he is favoring a move to Man United - Tuchel would love to work with Kane but Spurs won't sell to Chelsea - Lukaku won't come cheap but is more realistic than Haaland and Kane. Will take some convincing as he is happy in Serie A, where he feels more appreciated than in the Premier League. The club will also have to make Lukaku their highest-paid player (more than Kante) and the club record buy to get him - Another option could be Lautaro Martinez but his profile might be deemed too similar to Werner's - Club also thinking of getting Hakimi, having scouted him heavily through his time as a youth player at Real Madrid and loan at Dortmund. He has been discussed extensively by the board, scouting department and Tuchel - Tuchel also keen to get a CB. Sule and Lacroix have been mentioned. Other options include Pau Torres and Kounde - Tuchel also an admirer of Rice and has been discussing him with staff members. West Ham don't want to sell, would take a big bid to convince them - Club could spring a surprise in goal. There is some truth to the Donnarumma links but would depend on finding a buyer for Kepa. Even a loan will be challenging due to Kepa's wages - Club will listen to bids for Barkley, Emerson, Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Zappacosta, Batshuayi and Zouma. But Zouma's situation depends on what happens with the other CBs at the club (Rudiger's and Christensen's new contract) and/or the ability to get one of Tuchel's choices - Dortmund view CHO as a possible replacement for Sancho but no indication as yet that he wants to leave - Five returning loanees will be looked at in pre-season, including Gallagher - Turning to Guehi, Ampadu or Sarr would remove the need to buy another CB - Loftus-Cheek looks set for another loan move - Gilmour will have a choice to make over whether he goes out on loan to get more first team football, which could have an impact on Lewis Bate - Livramento worried about his chances of making a breakthrough due to the competition ahead of him, which could be made worse if someone like Hakimi arrive - PAOK trying to negotiate a permanent transfer for Baba Rahman following a positive loan

For me it's finding the fine balance between taking advantage of our position both achievement wise and financially in the market and keeping the inner-peace and togetherness in the squad. For me, personally, Lukaku would be a wrong choice, I'd rather try get Lewandowski if he's up for a challange. The publicity alone will repay his wages. I'd much rather take a "Demba Ba" if nothing reasnoble is on offer. I do feel Werner will come good, his movement and positional awareness, mentality is spot on. I'd much rather loan Tammy out to mid-table team like Arsenal (kidding!) and re-evaluate next season. Would be gutted to see CHO go permanently, I think he'll definately come good. R2D2 368
Of course he favours a move to United when we haven't even discussed to his agent, means shit as we saw with Werner, the main problem is actually being seriously interested in him not just circling around. That said if we are hellbent on a striker get Lautaro, doesn't matter if he is similar to Werner he is classes above Lukaku and still young. As for Hakimi whats the point of spending big on him when we have James. Edited June 1, 2021 by R2D2 Alabama
