Sporting CP put an end to a 19-year title drought in Portugal this season, thanks in no small part to head coach Rúben Amorim’s trust in young players, including from the club’s famed academy. Amongst those is Nuno Mendes, an 18-year-old left wing-back who burst onto the scene this season, playing nearly every minute on the left flank while also collecting his first three caps for Portugal. Did I mention he won’t turn 19 until later this summer?

Such performances have obviously piqued the interest of the big European teams, including Chelsea. Portuguese newspaper Record list the Blues alongside Manchester United and Manchester City as interested parties, though it’s the latter who are supposedly leading this race.

Any transfer rumour which concerns a left back is interesting to me.

I do not think we get Nunes, I think it will be Citeh or Manure or PSG, but I hope I am wrong. He would be a massive upgrade over Alonso and Emerson, and has huge upside due to such a young age, just like my three super-youth MF wants, in order of age, Bellingham (let him get another year or two in at Dortmund), Camavinga, and Gravenberch. I have been on about them for ages and so far I feel very justified.

How does Hakimi being sold affect Lukaku? Inter could potentially dump six top players. I think Hakimi, Lukaku, and Bastoni are gone. If Citeh includes left-footer WC CB Laporte in a Kane deal, they WILL go balls deep for left-footer WC, potentially better and certainly younger WC CB Bastoni. Pep usually gets his man. If we plonk down 100m or so euro for Lukaku, Zhang will likely bite our hand off.

With you on Bellingham, who I wanted us to sign from Brum, and Gravenberch, who I learned of from your posts. I'm not sold on Camavinga however. More flash than substance in what I've seen so far from him.

Inter need 80m so they will sell one top player. Bastoni just signed new deal.

Werner, Kai, Pulisic, Mount and potentially Sancho for 3 positions, maybe 4 positions if we change to a back 4 again, is pretty good, Ziyech is crap and should go while CHO going nowhere from what I see.
