Perhaps if Timo and Kai were match fit you can drop him without thinking about it but they’re both just back from COVID or injury. We need Lukaku in this period. Especially a Lukaku who looks dangerous again these last couple of games. If we lose these next two huge PL games (which everyone probably expects we will) and Spuds continue to win all their games in hand (which isn’t outside the realm of possibilty under Conte) suddenly they’ll be ahead of us. Like Arse, that would’ve sounded impossible not long ago. I don’t think he has to do this to prove who’s in charge as he’s already shown on a couple of occasions he is the man making the decisions and had made some big ones. He is doing it to purely make a point to Lukaku and anyone else who might be thick enough to do anything similar, to the same way he also harshly subbed CHO on then off v Southampton last season for ‘not being happy with his counter pressing’ and then he subbed Mount off at HT v Spurs a few months back, although IIRC he did say he could have brought many off and then talked about energy levels, second balls etc. I think the fact he’s done this sort of things before, the squad will 100% back his decision and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the senior pros have also had a go at Rom. bigbluewillie

He said crap but we've hardly been firing..then again guess dont know what's been said behind scenes. It's a mess Least Arsenal only have one game to get played. Spurs have 3. Its bad that only us and City have played 21 after today. Everyone else is all over the place. We won the CL without Lukaku while playing very good football though I desperately want us to win or challenge for the league but there is nothing you can do the kind of luck injuries convid situation we find ourself even Pep will struggle to survive.... Fukc Lukaku we are Chelsea...if he can leave the club today or tomorrow.. bye bye we will win trophies and play very good cohesive football without him even though we lose today Edited January 2, 2022 by Alabama

It was a crazy interview. Italian league is no good these days. They won the Euro because they have many good expats. Then we beat Juve by 4 to 1 on aggregate and everybody is unhappy because we did not beat them both legs.

Remembering the second half against Brighton, I just don't see what we could do against Liverpool. It must be some unearthly miracle to win tomorrow . Has last season not taught you two games aren't the same ffs. OneMoSalah

Wouldn't put it past us to taken points from either Liverpool today or City when we play them. Just have a feeling. The hilarious thing is by their same logic how will Liverpool score past Silva and Rudiger when they couldn't score past CB less Leicester. Aye thats it. Leicester game is actually the perfect example, they were very depleted against a full strength Liverpool but showed that it just takes a lot of grit and that bit of quality in the final third to beat them. I tend to remember us showing that grit at Anfield with 10 men at the beginning of the season when we had arguably the toughest start of the any top 6 side.
