Would be interesting to know how many covid cases other teams have had for games to be cancelled. If we have 7 or 8 out with it as its being rumoured it seems ridiculous to still be forced to carry on.

More to do with how many are available then how many are out..think Man U were left with 7 and similar with Leicester

Clubs will be expected to play a fixture where they have 14 players, including a goalkeeper, available from their registered squad list.

Good Lord, look at that bench. Again we have zero options to switch things up in attack if things go wrong.

And again I have no idea how we’re going to score a goal today. Absolute disgrace that this wasn’t called off when loads of other matches have been.

Most players will likely soon be positive

Omicron 5X likelier to cause reinfection, 2 jabs offer little to no protection, no proof it's milder

Omicron more likely to reinfect than Delta, not milder -study

Omicron five times likelier to cause reinfections
No sign milder than Delta, but some say too early to know
Two-dose vaccines offer little or no Omicron protection

https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/omicron-five-times-more-likely-reinfect-than-delta-study-says-2021-12-17/

Dec 17 (Reuters) - The risk of reinfection with the Omicron coronavirus variant is more than five times higher and it has shown no sign of being milder than Delta, a study showed, as cases soar across Europe and threaten year-end festivities.

The results of the study by Imperial College London were based on UK Health Security Agency and National Health Service data on people who tested positive for COVID-19 in a PCR test in England between Nov. 29 and Dec. 11.

"We find no evidence (for both risk of hospitalisation attendance and symptom status) of Omicron having different severity from Delta," the study said, although it added that data on hospitalisations remains very limited.

"Controlling for vaccine status, age, sex, ethnicity, asymptomatic status, region and specimen date, Omicron was associated with a 5.4-fold higher risk of reinfection compared with Delta," the study, which was dated Dec. 16, added.

Only penetration from one flank, nobody in midfield capable of controlling and dictating the rhythm and tempo of the game and no one capable of playing the central striker role properly.

I think anything out of the game today will be a positive to be honest.

Yeah, this is going to be ugly in terms of rhythm and ball possession. Don’t see how that midfield pair works. And then there’s Alonso and Azpi as defensive liabilities. Then you add Ziyech and Pulisic who were invisible in the 2nd half against Everton.

All 3 points would be a miracle here.

Wow. Unbelievable that it seems we are victims of having a big squad. Our request for postponement was rejected. No natural CF in the squad. Bench is ridiculous. Any result is a positive. As said in earlier post, not fussed about this game.
