23. Conor Gallagher

Zero goals first 6 months of the season and now 7 goals last 3 months. First period was anomaly and this is what we know he is capable. Great shooter, coming from behind like Lampard used to do.

7g 9a not bad but next season I expect him going further. 15g and 10-15a. If he stays ofc. But cannot believe there are people in the club who wants him sold.

For me he's done enough to get his 150k pw if that is all he's after, as rumoured. He can at minimum do a job for us grafting like James Milner did for all of his clubs. Hard work is an underrated asset.

Maybe, like Mount, its not what's being offered its the length of the deal?

Another underrated thing is Mount's contribution in the CL run: an important goal in the semis against Real Madrid, and an assist in the final... not to mention the hard work mentioned above. He's also an underrated passer--better than Conor in that regard IMO. Of course, all of that is past tense: not at the club and struggling with fitness elsewhere (maybe the club knew something?).

I think Conor still has a lot to prove, so while I'd like him to stay, I understand if the club decides otherwise; it might end up being a cost/benefit decision with FFP in the mix.

Now with Poch gone, it is even more important to keep him. With Silva also leaving, the dressing room will need some stability there and I think he could provide that for us. Albeit he could be classified as limited but what he brings to us in terms of mentality and availability and his love for the club is worth keeping around the team.

U cant make it up. For 2 years 90% of our fanbase moans about Gallagher not being good enough for Chelsea, pointing out every bad game he has and when he gets sold the club gets called clowns. The real clowns are the Chelsea fans.

What you point out only shows people have realized how much the standards lowered recently. Gallagher would have hard time finding his place into our CL winning squad, but now bit Barkley-esque type of MF, who is an academy graduate, level-headed, willing to put in the work is golden and candidate for becoming the leader and spine of the squad. Plus, thing with Connor says more about an idea for the club and role of academy, than Connor himself and that's even more concerning.

Match on going fans are indeed the clowns and there is no doubt about this, Gallagher was a bang average player just like Mount but because the standards have fallen of a cliff and they are English players they were portrayed as some kind of superstars when in reality they had no business playing for a top team.

Another mount Conor comparison. 🙄

Repeat after me: "Conor hasn't done a thing; Conor hasn't won shit." it's not hard. 😃
