Jorginho

Should have moved him on last summer, this is exactly why some of us were adament we needed Thiago, he could do a job, Jorgo is lightweight and seemingly cant do the basics anymore. Forget Rice, we need a proper midfielder beside Kante and Kova....I would kill for a prime Essien atm.

Everyone is complaining about our style of play in our first two games, but we are forgetting that Jorginho started both. He is a big influence on the way we play anytime he's on the pitch. We can never hope to play quick, fast paced football due to him "controlling the game", slow slow football, Werner will be wasted with no one quickly getting the ball to him since we have to build slowly with Jorginho.

I complained about this last season too on why Gilmour is far better for Lampard's system than Jorginho. And this labored attacking football is part of it. Play Kante and Kova in a double pivot and suddenly we have a dynamic pair and more speed to our game.

Maybe we ask rennes to include Camavinga in the mendy deal [emoji14]

He was anonymous and useless, once again.

Tired watching him play like this

But sadly, there will be another poor performance from him, he is limited passer, and ofcourse we already know about his defensive quality. So another match against any decent pressing team, we will see some similiar perfomance like this

Any match where we are ponderous and slow in attack, with a lot of sideways passing just check if Jorginho is in the lineup. He basically controls the tempo of the team once he starts

Its a strange really..

There was a period early last season where he was so adventurous with his passing that he was one of the first names on the team sheet. Opened defenses up and created so many chances.

Since the start of 2020 he has reverted to his passive style of play...like his worst performances under Sarri.

When he has a good day and the opposition fails to exploit his Limitation he Plays like an absolute boss as today. Great long passing, broke the palace press like a zillion times with ease and pressed really well himself.

Wow his best performance in a year for us. He was switching play to the wings and playing a lot of forward passes. Where has this Jorginho been all this while??

It's all good when opponents just sit off us like Palace did today. The problem is when teams press us aggressively and that is where Jorginho will struggle. And we happen to play a team that press next, after the international break...

They did press us at times esp after the 1-0 but Jorginho broke it. It’s a problem when they press him well as a team like Liverpool do but even vs Bayern he broke the press more often than not.

Hopefully we manage to overcome a pressing team. All he needs is to be releasing the ball quicker and switching it to the wings.

But Palace isn't typical pressing team under Hodgson.

Whatever his limitations, he showed exactly today, why it would be stupid to let him go. Games like this, he controls and dictates the tempo of the game. Created the best chance of the game in first half too. Excellent ball for Abraham. We definitely should not be looking to ship on any more midfielders or attackers now.

Played excellent today. Proof of why in these sort of games where we dominate the ball throughout and teams try let us break them down, he is vital. Yet again though some people fail to see the value of having a player like this. Still think if he went to City instead of here the summer we got him that people would truly appreciate the quality he has. Suppose though typical Chelsea isnt it? Limited player or not - which players dont have some sort of limitations? Bar a handful - if you build a good system around any good players they will perform. If we get Declan Rice he wont be taking his role in the team in these games 100%.
