It's nothing to do with that. We have a policy of 1 year contracts to over 30's. It's there for a reason. Dzeko either accepts the deal with an extension or stays at a struggling Roma.

I'm not against our 30+ policy, I think it's good for the long term club's interested.

The baffling thing about this in regards to Dzeko:  Is that everyone knew how old he was, and (should have) known what his current contract runs until.  So, why is this a stubbling block?  Either do it or don't.  Should have decided on that before even starting down this road.

That's because Marina thinks she is a hard ass who will eventually always get her way. While there can be no doubts about her negotiation skills for players going out, she leaves way too much to be desired with regards to her negotiation tactics for players coming in.

Honestly Dzeko’s camp can tongue my sack demanding 3.5yrs and 120k per week. He’s making 70k at Roma. I was all for this as a quick stop gap but not at those prices and for that term. Stay in Rome buddy.

I think board actually wanted to place veto on their 30+ policy regarding Džeko, but for let's say 2.5-years long contract. 3.5 is just way too much, especially with that kind of money. That's not the problem - problem is it took too long, this should've been sorted out a week ago. Now we have only couple of days left to get another target.

Deal fading out - Dzeko's wage demands are
not within Chelsea's range, and this evening,
they should give a definitive answer. His
request, €7m net of taxes per season for
three and a half seasons was too steep for
Chelsea (Di Marzio) #CFC #Dzeko

Roman needs to really shake the board structure up at this place.  I get that Marina drives a hard bargain, but shes too stubborn and we are going to miss out on quality additions because of her, literally

Drives a hard bargain? Like paying 35m for Drinkwater, 40m for Bakayoko and 33m for Batshuayi? We've overpaid for players we've signed in the last how ever many years except a few (Costa, Cesc, Kante, Alonso who you could say we've gotten value for money) then failed to pay a bit more for players who have genuine quality in comparison to what we have gotten (Kyle Walker, Alex Sandro, Danilo).

Danilo is shit. Sandro was unavailable. Bd for walker we could not financially compete with city.

Yes we overpaid for those player but that does not justify overpaying for Dzeko. I am disappointed Marina fucked this up too but if it was happening who is to say that in a few months people would not gonna moan about slow he is and that he offers nothing when he does not score goals. At some point we have to acknowledge someone had to make a decision. And if dzeko really wanted 7m net of taxes I would have told hin to fuck off werks before Marina did.

Honestly I can't be fuss about the failure of this potential transfer....yes people in charge of transfers up there are morons...but what I don't understand is our refusal to try and sign a quality right winger ala fekir/pulisic/gelson or any quality/class player...the last time I check striker is not part of our problem....yes morata has been pathetic recently but imagine a scenario whereby we add a quality or class player to that Pedro/willian position...is it conte choice to go for another striker or the boards decision?
