Will he get it anywhere else though, given his recent performance? Doubt Arsenal, Bayern or PSG would be likely to pay him top money because he used to be good two seasons ago.

With all the new boys maybe Mount wont even make the bench in a couple of games time. Still think he can be a real player in the future but he is way off of it at the moment and needs a rest and a reset imo. Thrive and beat the competition to prove yourself or move on, in the typical way that always happened at successful Chelsea sides.

This isn't about loving Chelsea, this is him allowing hype get to his head and not really evolving as a player from season to season. 

He always talked about the "8" being his preferred role but he's been played there recently and looked absolutely bang average.  He needs to take that next step if he wants the type of contract Reece got.

What is his best position? 

Love the idea of Mount being in the team but we need to face reality... if we want to move forward and catch City then we must make the hard decisions. He just isn't good enough... maybe if the other 10 players are World Class, he may stand a chance but until then... no chance.

While the club shouldn't cave into Mount's demands, I hope the club doesn't make any snap judgements with regards to his future.

In this season when nearly every attacking player is underperforming, I refuse to single out Mount or even Havertz as the root cause.

If it's a question of offloading players to clear up the wage bill, there are plenty of wingers to choose from. 

Now apparently there is talk of Gallagher being offered a renewal. Doesn't look good for Mount., because mediocre Gallagher is his real competition at the moment.

Gallagher is hopeless on the ball, but because he shows 'heart' and is content being a squad player, he will get preference.
