Still incredible how he was loaned out when the squad is now begging for a natural old fashioned DM.

He actually wanted to stay at Chelsea, but sadly Nagelsmann did not rate him at Leipzig. If he had actually played under Nagelsmann, Lampard would have probably kept him

Played really well against Villa yesterday, Sheffield earnes a clean sheet playing with 10 men for 35 minutes.

Do you guys think TT will use him last season? Or Guehi? As I know he has also been doing great on loan.

Both decent talents. Can't see why not.

They are both ready and perfect for a, back three. But I think Tuchel still prefers Toni and Azpi because they are more leaders

Rüdi, Azpi and Thiago are all very charismatic players with leader skills, we don’t lack it. I hope young talented players like Guehi, Ampadu or Tomori will have chance at Chelsea. I like them all, I hope we can play it smart and build them in the team instead of buying new CB-s to replace Silva and Dave.

This is weird. Now seeing James playing for United makes me wonder where the fuck is Ampadu? 4 full weeks since Wales last game. Not to mention he got red card and did not play against Denmark. Plus he did not had longer season like our players because of CL final which I assume is the reason for longer vacation.

He should have been on day one for pre season fighting for his spot.

In the end of the day I don't think he is Chelsea material player and wouldn't be surprised if he is sold for 10-15m this summer.

Ethan Ampadu provides transfer update on his Chelsea future and names his Venezia lesson

Ethan Ampadu is on the third loan of his Chelsea career with Venezia in Serie A and has opened up on what the future holds for him

Ethan Ampadu is unsure where his Chelsea future lies come the end of the season despite signing a new deal ahead of his loan to Venezia.

The Welsh international's contract runs until 2024 but faces some stiff competition to get into the Chelsea starting XI, both in midfield and defence.

The 21-year-old has featured six times for Venezia so far and provided a classy assist from midfield in his side's win over Roma ahead of the international break. The Exeter City product is firmly focused on becoming the best player he can for the moment.

Ampadu said ahead of Wales' clash with Belarus: “I’m not too sure yet. Obviously, I want to be the best I can be after this loan wherever that is.

"But you can’t get to that point without focusing on the present."

Despite an uncertain future, Chelsea are of course taking plenty of interest in Ampadu's development.

He added: "They’re always watching the games and giving you feedback. Someone has even managed to come out and watch a game.

“You still get all the feedback because at the end of the day you’re still a Chelsea player even though my focus is on Venice. Everyone wants you to develop and be a better player so you have that help as well.

"My focus is on doing as well as I can with Venezia and seeing where that takes me this summer.”

It could be a wise path for Ampadu to take. Twelve months ago Trevoh Chalobah seemed similarly distant from the Blues' first team when heading on loan to Lorient.

The defender, like Ampadu, was on the third loan of his Chelsea career and had shown promise in midfield and defence. The duo could even be considered direct competitors for a place in Thomas Tuchel's plans.

Of course, Chalobah is now well ahead in the pecking order but his comments upon signing his new contract were telling.

The 22-year-old noted: "It’s been an unbelievable start to the season and something I never expected but it just shows that the hard work I’ve put in and going out on loans had paid off."

How quickly things changed for Chalobah in pre-season should give Ampadu hope. While the former RB Leipzig and Sheffield United loanee competed at EURO 2020, his teammate was able to spend significant time under Thomas Tuchel's eye to both develop and impress.

With next season's World Cup being in the winter, pre-season 2022 could provide the perfect opportunity for Ampadu. Nevertheless, he is firmly focused on the present and improving in Serie A.

He said: “I’m enjoying it out there. We’ve had our ups and downs football-wise but the lifestyle is good. It’s not a bad place to live and be around.

“That was the reason to go there, to play games and develop as a player.

“Even in this short space of time, there are things I’ve learnt already and there are still plenty more things to learn.

“That’s the aim for the season, to become a better player.”

Already, Ampadu has identified one immediate area to improve himself. The youngster picked up three yellow cards in his opening three Serie A games before being controversially sent off against Salernitana for a challenge on Frank Ribery.

"I seem to get yellow cards all the time," Ampadu said, "I am learning how to deal with different situations. I could have prevented that situation (with Ribery) and maybe not got a red card."

Presuming we sign Fofana or another probable starter. Still only leaves us with Colwill (who himself has been linked with a move away) and Big Trev for cover.would be nice to keep him for depth.

Don't forget Sarr. Don't think we are getting rid of all 3 despite all of them being linked with moves away. We simply can't afford to unless we are getting 2 new CBs, and we are having trouble bringing one in.
